  read good books, you are totally correct. My boss was telling me yesterday about an incident that happened in their dormatory at college when he was younger. The news service interviewed them. But the story that was broadcasted was totally different than what the facts actually were. He was shocked how the media could portray a situation.

  In the congregation because what is practiced is not always what you understand. The elders can interpret a rule that is totally different from your view. For example what I read in previous posts about some elders feeling that snowboarding is wrong. But a publisher may not understand that as being a truthful rule to go by. How is the publisher to properly determine the truth of this matter for himself? And because another body of elders in a different congregation may view snowboarding as ok, then where is the truth in a "rule".

  I am sorry that sometimes I let the hurt that the WTS caused fog my thinking and eyes. Sometimes I jump the gun and automatically become critical of everything the WTS does.

  Just to be fair, this Kingdom Hall picture is not creepy at all compared to some of the churches in my neighborhood. Two were recently build, an Assembly of God and a Penecostal church. One has windows and the other does not have any windows. Neither are as appealing to view as the Kingdom Hall in the picture.

  Very few of the KH I attended had any windows. Sadly all the newer KH are of simple design. Nothing pretty about the newer KH, but isn't what is taught inside the most important? Or is what is being taught inside a reflection of the building on the outside?

  The WTS stated that a "great crowd" will enter into the "new world." And all the people that will be resurrected will be there. Hence if the earth will be able to hold all the "new world" people, it will hold alot today.

  not the way to refute watchtower theology:.

  bill and joan cetnar make a statement that russell said he spoke to angels , this is a blatant lie and we know what the bible says about liars .... he also says that russell claimed to be the fds and the laodicean messenger, both statements are misleading .

  russell never claimed in any of his writings that he spoke to angels or was the aforementioned messenger or the fds , rather it was some of his associates that suggested he may be.. the cetnars also make a number of other poorly researched and misleading statements that sadly bring their own characters into disrepute .. .

  NWT - Accurately translated bible rumor

  has anyone on here heard of this rumor or even know if this is true?

  supposedly, on an episode of jeopardy, one of the questions asked was which version of the bible was considered the most accurately translated from the original hebrew and greek text and the answer was the new world translation.

  i tried looking this up online to no avail.

  I was originally in "Christiandom". I liked what I read in the WTS publications. I became a regular pioneer and ministerial servant and then elder. If I never became an elder I probably would still be a loving member of the congregation. I loved many of the brothers and sisters and even their quirky ways.

  But once I became an elder then I saw a distinct difference between what the WTS publications said and what was actually being practiced. Even the WTS publications were not consistent in their writings. The WTS encouraged theocratic warfare of lying to protect the organization. As an elder and participating in locating congregation wrongs and resolving them were like witch-hunts. The quirks of the brothers and sisters often times fell on my back as my problem that I really did not want.

  Like beasts after the taste of blood, the elders often times attacked each other. They would create groups, like pack animals, for power struggles. Forget about any humility or love, it was all about greed to control.

  When my daughter got disfellowshipped and was living at home, the body of elders removed me and threatened to df me for my housing of my daughter. I stopped going to the meetings except for the Memorial and some funerals. I still keep in contact with some of the older jw I used to know. My wife occasionally goes to a meeting here or there. All five of my children have nothing to do with the jws. Two of them were raised in the "truth", in which one was disfellowshipped. The other children never was taught in the family anything about the jws.

  Went to a Kingdom Hall this weekend ....

  for a memorial service of a long time friends mother .

  my husband and i were disappointed to realize they were forgoing a funeral home visitation .

  neither of us were thrilled about having to go into a kingdom hall again , but after a few rattled nerves we made it .

  I also noticed that recent funerals I attended at the KH that they present more information about the person who died.

  I don't know if the outline calls for that or not, but it does make sitting there more tolerable.
