Could they have spent the money helping ones on earth? Seems like a waste, though the knowledge this will provide will be interesting.

I think people want to believe in an Armageddon
by dgp inthe end of the world (aka "this system of things") has been predicted to happen "soon" many times.
in my own lifetime, and not being a jw, i have been warned that the world would end like six times already.
harold camping predicted one end of the world twice only last year.

According to a recent BBC report, Americans especially dwell on some sort of an end coming to the world. That may be why recent issues of the WTS magazines headline world disasters.

Is Iran the new Iraq?
by Justitia Themis induring the bush years, i tried to discuss the inaccuracies, errors, and misinterpretations in the bush administration's iraq intelligence that was used to rally the nation and march to war.
but most people's eyes would glaze over and they would mumble some comment about foreign policy being too hard and too time consuming to understand.
as a nation, we failed in our duty to check our leaders, which led to the iraq war, which deleteriously diverted our attention from afghanistan, and has contributed greatly to our financial demise.

Heaven forbid if the U.S. goes to war with Iran. Yes I believe that Israel and the U.S. will go to war with Iran, but Iran is more fanatical and well equiped than Iraq was. Remember that previous U.S./British and Iran confrontations over prisoned solders have ended in the U.S. and Britain being humbled.

1. I converted because I loved what I learned about idols, flag salute, military service, hellfire, and the Trinity 2. Loved many of the brothers and sisters. When I was young and got baptized, I found that many of the things I did in the world, such as parties (dancing and drinking), was alive and well in the cong. Many of the brothers and sisters were loving. 3. Clamped down on parties and gatherings by the WTS. One of my friends almost got df for telling other jw that he was going to the beach and others then showed up and they got out of line. Brothers and sisters socialized only at the cong instead of having picnics and gatherings. The brothers and sisters became casual acquaintances. 4. I went up the rank to elder and now actually saw the hypocrisy in the BOE. 5. My daughter got df and they wanted me to kick her out of my house to stay an elder. So I faded away. My 5 children, though raised as jw, do not associate with the jw anymore. My wife and her side of the family have stayed with the cong.

New contribution box at the hall ?
by Poztate indo you think in view that they now have wt production videos.. (a costly endevour) that they might in addition to the www, local and literature donation boxes start a wt video productions box with special guilt laid on parents with small children to donate ?.
it does seem to be all about the money so it wouldn't suprise me...how about you.

If they skip the DVD production and just go to web streaming/downloading, then their costs would even be lower. They could tell the flock that bandwidth costs are high and they need to donate more to the all-encompassing worldwide work.

It serves as a way to measure the spirituality of the flock. It also serves to know which brothers should be promoted.
