I bought fine jewelry, opal earrings and opal necklace, two months ago. The only old gold I have are the fillings in my mouth and my gold ring. So I have never sold any old gold.

Brazen Conduct
by EmptyInside intheir new phrase, that i never read in the bible.
it was used in the watchtower study today.
and an elder used marrying an unbeliever as an example of "brazen" conduct.. does this mean they are going to start disfellowshipping those who marry unbelievers?

"Brazen conduct" replaced the term "loose conduct". In this way the expression points to the seriousness of the offense that they make up.

by Christ Alone insome avatars and screen names are pretty self explanatory, but some...i can't figure out.
i just wanted to know why you chose your particular screen name and/or avatar.

Based on my dislike of how the WTS is not straight in their teachings or their dealings by the elders.

Good for you. Glad you put the calling elder on the spot. They think they can just drop by to shepherd, when in reality they want to harass you and belittle you. Keep us posted on how the future goes after you open the doors to freedom to celebrate birthdays and enjoying after school events.

A lunchtime spotting of JWs on their break from door-knocking...
by Jim_TX innot that big of a deal, but it is kind of humorous.... my wife and i went to a local mcdonald's for lunch.
yes, i know all the bad things that are in their foods... but it's difficult to find lunch places that are 'healthy' and low-cost.. anyway, she went and sat down, and i ordered the food.
as i came round the corner with the tray filled with burger, fries and the cups for our sodas, i spotted a group of four women sitting at one of the tables.. folks... i just want to make one thing very clear.

Your experience brought back old memories. I remember doing the same thing they did. A pioneer always looks for an opportunity to start their time. I never was that bold to witness within a business, I usually got the ones sitting in their car outside the establishment.

Encounter with two elders last night
by sd-7 ini realized recently that this was the start of a new service year (read: fi$cal year), so of course i figured it was possible the elders would make their usual rounds and show up uninvited.
it hadn't occurred to me that they would approach me as i was picking up my family from the meeting last night.
as i was getting my daughter situated, the chairman of my judicial committee says, "hey!

Remember that jw are taught to go to the same doors over and over again, even if the householder says they are not interested. You are no different, except you only get a yearly visit. Count your blessing that they do not try seeing you on a weekly/monthly basis.

In most witness minds, pedophiles only exist in the world. When I brought up the subject that pedophiles exist in the WTS, they look at me with the deer in the headlights look disbelief. They are definitely clueless.

Full time ministry Joy--or Lack Thereof
by WTWizard ini can remember all the while i was in the cancer that they would trump up the value of pious-sneering.
one of those was the "joy" of serving jehovah full time.
they would always have these fantastic stories about how they had obstacles that they foolhardily disregarded, or that they got all these people into the cancer.. this is full of rubbish.

When I was a regular pioneer, it was joyful. Sure I distributed literature, but I felt that I was helping people who promised to read it. I conducted studies and enjoyed seeing them become part of the org. It was fun for me since I did not have any other recreation. I was single and if I was not in the field ministry, then I would be home doing nothing.
Now I look back and see that pioneering was filling an empty void in my life. Nobody really benefited from the time and effort I exerted in the ministry. Though it kept me out of worldly trouble, it also kept me from an education that my dad so wanted me to have.
