  i know that title doesn't make much sense, so i'll explain: i am shunning my two jw sisters.

  ( i am df's as of 83'.over the last 20 years or so, we have had a fairly decent relationship, aside from both of them having emotional and depression issues.

  it's from jehovah!

  i've been doing a lot of thinking and have been leaning toward a new conclusion about god.

  i'm thinking that i believe in his existance but think that he does not play an active role in our lives.

  he does not cause evil but also does not bless...... what do you think?.

  I went to a Catholic mass one morning- I found it relaxing. The service included moments of prayer- the formal, set ones and moments of silence for personal, bible readings, and communion. It was refreshing to go to a service where I didn't hear, "Come more often! Preach more!"

  Edited to add- No one knew me, but everyone smiled and/or nodded at me.

  a levite marries himself a concubine.

  she's unfaithful and goes back home.

  does anybody remember which scripture it is in the greek scriptures (i want to say it was of paul's writings) that the jw's used as a reason that women had no privileges that a man could have in the congregation?

  i remember doing research on it for a return visit.

  basically the jist of it is that because of eve's sin, all women are inferior.

  I'm going to a Catholic college and have to take some religious classes. My instructer told us that many scholars believe there are several reasons for Paul saying this.

  1. Jewish men and women were taught seperately, with women receiving less of an education than men. Early Christians studied together and women would often interrupt these studies to ask questions. That's why Paul basically said, "Ask your man when you get home!"

  2. It was tradition for women at the time to wear some kind of head covering.

  Notice in the scriptures that Paul says, "I want women to be modest..." 1 Tim. 2:9 "I do not let women teach men..." 1 Tim. 2:12 He's not saying "the Lord requires..." Sounds like Paul is stating an opinion.

  Anyone heard of Watchtower policy change concerning pedophiles

  i'm passing this along from someone else on another discussion board.

  the claim of any substantive change in the policy on pedophiles is news to me.

  can anybody verify or falsify this claim?.

  AK-Jeff is right Your simple act of picking up the phone, calling the local police, even anonymously, may save a life.

  As it has been pointed out on many other threads, child molestation is a crime. We need to "pay Caesar's things to Caesar", in that we are obligated to report these incidents to the police.

  Angel eyes, it's one thing to suffer from the unfairness of life, it's entirely different when criminals are permitted to continue preying on the most innocent of the congregation.

  I told my (non-Witness) husband that quote, "No one really loves unless they know and love Jehovah." He raised his eyebrows, said "wow, that's insulting." then Bam! off he was on a rant. I love the story that Girlie told on page 1- the householder nailing the witness for saying that only JW's can love. That's exactly what is being said in that quote, and yeah, it's very insulting.

  every now and then i come across comical references to smurfs in posts on this site, i have been in the org all my life and never heard of any demonisation of father abraham's little blue imaginary friends, even when they they hit the uk top ten singles chart.

  can someone enlighten me of what was said, where and when?

  maybe i missed it because i was more concerned about kiss using an ouija board in plane or axel rose being anagram of oral sex!!!
