Dec. 15th WT - WT Society REALLY Minimizes Earning a Decent Living
by flipper init's ridiculous.
i saw this so much in my 44 years in the jehovah's witness cult.
whether it was elders, pioneers, or other people in the cult criticizing others for working too much at their employment or missing some service or meetings due to employment.

Flipper, the tobacco farm thing is in one of Ray Franz's books. I don't remember which one. It happened; the people were forced to leave the business. Tobacco is not for me, yes, and perhaps it's not appropriate for religious people to cultivate, but it should have been a voluntary decision anyways.
If someone knows how I can get a scan of that Watchtower, please let me know. I don't have direct contact with witnesses anymore. At least, not for the time being.

Satan is not that smart, is he?

All right. That's your opinion.
My opinion is, the article is about how the concept of a devil is just implausible, because it leads to absurd conclusions. As in "Did God create the Devil so he could lead us astray?" If that were true, then God created the Devil, then decided to send his son to save us, then decided to let Satan off, for nobody knows what purpose, since Satan was ultimately defeated anyways, 2000 years ago. If you're a Jehovah's witness, you have to add that YHWH will destroy all the bad guys at Armageddon (that is to say, the ones who were led astray by Satan, that creation of, yes, YHWH), will let the Witnesses prove their worth for a thousand years, then will let Satan off again (so he can destroy the humans YHWH loves that much). Does it seem to make sense? It doesn't seem to make sense to me. By extension, yes, the article is a critique of the idea of whether there is a God, at least the kind of God we've been told God is.

Should women expect to be wooed?
by highdose ini'm new to the non jw wordly scene, so i'd like to know.
is it normal to expect some niceites when going out with some one?
the odd dinner maybe?

Farkel, I guess Highdose's question is a different one. I understood her post to mean whether "worldly" dating included going out, dining, et cetera (which obviously does) or people go right into bed (which some people do). She informs she is new to the "worldly" dating scene. I have the feeling that she wants the dating thing, and, therefore, she is to expect some nice attentions given to her. "Expect" as in "it's natural if it happens" not as in "demand them".
I would agree with you that dating has become way more difficult now. Some years ago, carrying a woman's bag was seen as a courtesy. I have heard some say that they can carry their own things, followed by "Is this how you want to control me?". But, that's another matter.

Mouthy, maybe they very much needed the money and didn't expect it to come from you. Whatever she did before, you did win this one. She got unconditional love.
I hope the day will come when you will tell us that you're daughter is by your side.

Highdose, I believe it is very normal to do a lot of nice things for the woman you really love, and it is normal if she expects that. And, you know? it is no problem to do all that if you love the girl. It comes from your heart, and those niceties are done because you want to, not because she demands anything. At least, that is what I feel. And, you can usually feel when the person is sincere and when he (or she) is just deceitful.
If the man loves you, he will not pressure you for sex right away. Especially if you mention that you were a witness and grew up under different rules. If the man loves you, he will respect who you are and will wait.
As Creativhoney said, the sad thing is, if you jump into bed right away, some men won't want you for anything else later.
I assume you want true love. That takes time. Don't accept any pressure for sex.
I honestly wish you all the luck in the world. I don't know how old you are, but I feel you're very young. It feels as if you were my little daughter, going out for the first date... I wish you all the happiness in the world. Take it easy, so you can have it.

Are Jehovah's Witness men good catches?
by garyneal ini've stated this before on this message board but i was kind of curious about this and wanted to get some feedback from the group.
in particular, the ladies who are either current or former jw's.. about a year or so ago, my wife went with me to a church i was attending at the time.
we then later that morning attended a kh meeting.

Creativhoney, one question. I assume you're no longer a witness. From you post, would it be safe to assume that, if you were one, you wouldn't marry a JW man anyways? Because that would mean that a JW man would NOT be a good catch for you, even if your lifestyles were similar. Can I have your thoughts on this?

Since we're talking about Satan, let us talk about Judas Iscariot, too. If my understanding is right, Satan tempted him or whatever, and he sold Jesus for thirty pieces of silver. The problem with this allegation is that, for prophecies to be fulfilled, SOMEONE had to turn Jesus in. God knew who that person would be. That person, Judas Iscariot, played the role he had to play so that the SAVIOR would be able to save us. How is Judas Iscariot to blame for that? This has a huge implication. It means that the poor devil we've been talking about also played a big role in salvation, for it was he who lured Judas into being a traitor, so the prophecy would be fulfilled. Why does Satan the Poor Devil bother to do anything, after all? Since when God needs Satan for a prophecy to be fulfilled? Does this sound confusing?
On the other hand, Satanus, the perks of the job seem attractive enough :-). Do you think she would be a demon in bed?

Glenster, I respect your point of view, too. In the future, I will make sure I won't mock anyone's beliefs. Would you have a look at this link, please?

It's on the same page you referred to. "The implausibility of Satan", by Paul Doland.
