Hello to all. Maybe this is a stupid question, since JW's don't celebrate Christmas, but, as JW's, how did you spend your Christmas? What did you feel when everyone else was celebrating? Thanks for your answers.

untitled
by dgp ini'm under the impression that the restrictions the wtbts imposes on witnesses to interact with non-jw's ultimately means that a non-jw might find he or she can't really help a faithful witness.
even if the witness in in real, serious need, or in the common events of every day life.
you can't ask your witness neighbor to come over to your house and interact normally.

You can't ask your witness neighbor to come over to your house and interact normally. You can't go to their home and have a friendship with them. If you see one witness is miserable, the witness is supposed to bear it on his or her own, because association with a non-JW is a bad thing. What are your thoughts in this regard? Thank you in advance.

Last Nights Mtg. "Demonstrate Personal Interest" (New Bible Students Beware)
by WalkTall insometimes it just hits you how cold and unfeeling this religious corporation is.. last night there was a part in the kingdom ministry about helping new bible studies.
in one paragraph it mentioned how the new student might cut ties with former associates because they are not living by bible principles.
it says that their families might disown them.

I understand that psychologists agree that loving is more about giving than receiving. Loving, I understand, is an ability the selfish don't have. It seems they can only love themselves, but the truth is are selfish because they have to compensate for their lack of self-love. And then, being able to love means you can love everyone, regardless of race, size, et cetera. It is sad that, under this arrangement of the WTBTS, both the witnesses and the study can't really feel or give love. Both are forced to live in a loveless vacuum.
If you're a witness, then, think whether you want to freely love, or whether you just want to fake interest.
Walk Tall, I have a personal reason to thank you. I hope other people will notice the post and think about it, too.

Favoritism within the WT
by garyneal inthough my wife does not really see it and i myself am only beginning to actually see it, it appears that there is a lot of 'favoritism' going on in the wts.
now maybe i should not judge especially since, in my case, i do not have all of the facts.. therefore, i will just let this passage of scripture stand on its own and allow people to comment on what they see as favoritism within the society.. .

Gary, fellow non-JW, now I know enough about the WTBTS to tell you that your wife does not fit into the mold, and I'm sure she's looked unfavorably because she's married to you. However, I believe she should be smart enough to understand that they don't have to choose her husband, too.

I didn't notice that, though I'm convinced JW's would do it in order to get someone into the society.
What I noticed was that, of the three JW's who tried to get me into the society, one was way more tolerant of "worldly" things than the other two. I had this image of John Paul II in my car, a gift from my mother, that I put there just to show appreciation for her. One of the JW's didn't mind. The other two, well, they actually wanted me to remove it. And, that was when I was just getting to know them. It was kind of funny to see their faces when I said I wouldn't, because I didn't want to hurt my mother.

Does anyone find it too painful to read the WTS publications?
by dissed inbeen out 13 years and even for research purposes, i find it way too painful to read this wt stuff.. and why?.
all the painful memories it brings back.
don't misread me, it has nothing to do with a guilty conscience.. it has to do with the real pain, the anger of being ripped off and lied too by the wts, the anger of seing how they have protected child molesters, sacrificed its followers by refusing blood transfusions, the treacherous way we and others were treated by the 'unloving brothers'.

Though I will never fully appreciate what you feel, at an intellectual level I think I understand what you're going through. Try to focus on the future. Don't let the WTBTS steal your future from you. Live your life in full.

Is the Bible Really Scientifically Accurate?
by FreeAtLast1914 inthe society (and others) love to quote job 26:7 where it says that "[god] suspends the earth over nothing" and isaiah 40:22, where it speaks of "the circle of the earth".
they use these scriptures to boast about the incredible scientific accuracy of the bible, proving god had a direct hand in everything written in it.. the trouble is that elsewhere in the scriptures, opposing views are put forth explaining then-unexplainable physics and geographical notions.
one is job 26:11: "the pillars of heaven tremble.

No, the Bible isn't scientifically accurate. It's a well known fact.
