Since the teaching of JW is that death absolves sin I wonder why they don't let disfellowshipped people have funeral in KH.
Stupid rulemaking, I hate it

DF'ed JW dies, family regrets shunning
by MinisterAmos inthe wife's aunt was df'ed right after the 1975 fiasco for getting married in a catholic church.
pretty harsh wouldn't you say?
anyway, her hard-core niece , my wifes' cousin patty, as well as many other loyal dubs followed doctrine and refused to have contact with her other than to urge her to return to the dubs after every wt meeting that told them to "reach out" to the dfed ones.

Faders, How Often Do You/Did you Want to Pull the Pin on that Grenade?
by OnTheWayOut inmany here have stopped going to the kh and many have just reduced activity to some degree.
while today is not that day for me, i have had the "screw it all" attitude every now and again and was ready to tell the wt off, call the p.o.
or whoever, call my mother and tell her all about the "god-damned cult" she's in and why it's just wrong.

I want to celebrate christmas and birthdays. This year though I got a small xmas tree that can be hidden if we get an unexpected visit from the holier than thou brigade. I'd really like to just forget about it all but when you have family in the "truth" its hard because you dont want to hurt them. On the hand who are you living your life for??? I dont want to hide who I am but I don't want to hurt people either.
I just really wish they could see outside the society bubble that they live in. For once take an objective view at their religion. I think only a shock jolt can free most from the control. I had been having doubts about the stupid blood policy for a while but it wasn't until I experienced the wonderful "shepherding" of the elders it made me realise how removed their were from Christ. The thread soon started to unwravel.
Now I'm kind of in between. I won't close the door on my belief in God/Christ but I won't ever let a man dictate to me what I should and shouldn't believe.

Something My GF Noticed.........
by ColdRedRain intoday, i was hanging out with my girlfriend and we were bored and cold, so we went over to my mom's kingdom hall just to show her what a cult looks like.
i was demonstrating to her how the witnesses use vague, emotion driven speech to try to conjure up the strong feelings in their members so they could control them easier, but i didn't pick this tiny tidbit up.
we kind of listened to the beat of the kingdom melody and we noticed something very odd.... the kingdom songs' cadences are the same rythmic cadences a hypnotist would use to hypnotize a person..

Dark days are here.,
Men live in fear ...
With dire expectation as to all creation??
Remember that song. The first part was slash your wrists and the second part was jump up and down. wohoo.

I think with internet and the freedom of information a lot more young ones are going to leave the "truth" much earlier. I wonder if the GB will ever issue instructions to treat "faders" as disassociated ones if they do not come back to the fold within a reasonable time frame.
Even when you are faded though you always have to be watching your back. Sneaky JWs everywhere....

I remember serving as an MS. Rushing to get to the meeting because unlike most of the elders I actually had a real job which didn't involve cleaning windows and having my own work schedule. I remember arriving home at 7 and rushing throwing on suit, cutting my face up shaving like a looney. Get to the meeting at 7:25, rush to get the sound set up, test microphones. Then have to do highlights or local announcements. Or both.
Argh. So many wasted evenings... When I stepped down after serving 4-5 years not one elder thanked me for busting my hole. I was the good guy who was always there to step in... who always said "Yes no prob...". I get the occasional "We miss you" blah blah shit. I was only a donkey who did work and put a report in at the end of the month.
They are desperate now for brothers. In my cong they even reinstated a former MS who just a few months ago doubted the existance of God and the flood being a global event... (imagine that...). They have elders serving who are popping anti-d's.

Do you belive in UFO's?
by highdose inas jw's we were meant to say no, but as free thinking people, i wonder what your opionion is?.

Do you mean aliens?
I frequently see UFO's, they could just be satellites but since I cant confirm they are UFOs to me.
To believe a universe as big as ours is for 6 billion people seems a bit of a waste.

The Final Nail in the Coffin of your JW Career
by jookbeard ini know there has been countless threads on this, some say the paedophile scandal, others say the blood ban, some say the conduct of their elders, others say the petty rules etc.
but there is usually one thing that seals every one's fate, tips you over the edge, finishes you off.i was fading, very closely to full inactivity, off the book study list, and very sporadic meeting attendance, which took me to the very last time i set foot in my kingdumb hall, this is what happened;.
it was the memorial of 1994, i hadn't set foot in the place for months, but thought a show at the memorial would keep the wife happy and the elders at bay for a bit longer, i drove to the hall being careful not to get there too early(the wife was already there and had saved me a seat) i walked up to my seat about mid way in the hall so a lot could see me, it was packed probably about 200 there, as i sat down ( about 3/4 mins to go) a sister in front of me turned around and said"we haven't seen you in a long time!

I think the final nail for me was when doubts started to give way to questions. I opened up to a "friend" in the congregation who despite promising me he would keep it to himself (since I had not worked through what I was going to do about my feelings) proceeded to then tell his father (an elder). This "friend" also admited to having doubts etc.
I was hammered in a "shepherding" visit which then turned into an unofficial judicial committee the next week(three elders in kingdom hall). I defended my right to doubt and highlighted numerous areas where this was acceptable, even commendable in the Bible. I brought material concerning the blood issue (that whole white blood cells are in breast milk etc). I highlighted the fact that the UN thing was a mistake... The obviously frustrated elder said "Why do you say that?", to which I reply because the moment it went public they left. He then said "Did you ever consider that perhaps they got everything they needed and no longer needed the membership...??"
At that point I realised this elder who I had respected for many years was nothing more than a puppet, trying to defend something that was clearly wrong. He was even making points that were untrue. He couldn't grasp the hypocrisy. Not wanting to provoke the situation I just accepted this point of view respectfully... Another one of the elders told me not to be reading things on the internet, like the UN website... This was another double standard. If the UN material is good enough for the WT and Awake why isn't it good enough for me??
I wrote my letter to step down from being a MS. It was approved by the branch and an announcement made. After serving for over 5 years not one of my "friends" offered any type of token gesture like "Sorry to hear you aren't serving anymore. I enjoyed your talks. blah blah". Nothing.
The final nail was when the "friend" I had trusted and who had admitted to me had his own doubts (about WT prophecies, revelation, the flood) was made a ministerial servant a couple of months later!! The stench of hypocrisy just became overwhelming. I did attend a few meetings after that and all my "friends" were so excited to see me. They had "missed" me. B*llocks that.
