Oct.15th WT GB Tells JW Rank & File-You are Our Belongings Stay Humble
by flipper inthe mind control in this latest oct.15th is amazing.
our lurking jw friend sent us this and it basically tellls witnesses that their opinions don't matter and only god is good .
it belittles independent thinking and explains that each rank and file jw is owned by the alleged " faithful and discreet slave " .

I does make me mad, Flip. Thanks for posting that.
This part is truly egregious:
"However, being modest, or being aware of our limitations, will prevent us from BECOMING OPINIONATED."
In other words, "Modest people don't think for themselves. Modest people don't question what we say."
It's also sickening how they use the words "our limitations" and "prevent us", as if they're including themselves, when the fact is THEY are the only ones in the cult that are allowed to have an opinion. Or, is what they are printing straight from God, and therefore not their own opinion? Oh, right... It's ALL from God except when it isn't. How do you know if it isn't? Well, easy. They change it.
So, if a salesman comes to your door and tries to sell you a "magic potion" that can cure all that ales you, and you are naturally skeptical, and tell him, "No thanks. That's impossible. All evidence shows that no such potion can exist and because of that I think you're trying to scam me." Is THAT being haughty and opinionated? Is questioning what an authority figure tells you being haughty and opinionated?
The Watchtower would have you think so. At least when it comes to THEIR "authority".

Recent Daily Text & Service Meeting discussion
by feenx inhappy hump day everyone!
i was wondering if anyone had a humorous or out there daily text and discussion they could share from a relatively recent morning service meeting?
i am writing a short screenplay and would love to include a good story in this scene, where a young boy, 11ish, is sitting with his parents listening to everyone get prepared for field service..

Ha! I was reading the text for field service once and it said something like, "...we are not simply brute beasts..." but when I read it I said "brute breasts". And I knew that didn't sound right, so I went back and re-read it, again, out loud. And it wasn't just a slip of the tongue, my brain was actually seeing and reading "brute breasts". Even with everyone in the audience snickering at me I didn't catch what I had done untill after I was finished reading. Fun!

Why, darkl1ght3r of course. Because it's dark, yet... light at the same time. The harmony of the two contrasts united together sings pages of poetry in but a single word. Say it with me... Darkl1ght3r.
Yeah, I'm full of sh!t. But I'm still voting for myself.

Yeah, I think this has happened to all of us at some point... I can think of several examples off hand from back when I was in, similar to ones that have already been described. I was actually kindof a hard-ass on this point actually. I had a rigid rule that I went by: Anything R-rated was off limits. Anything PG-13 was fair game, and I do mean anything. Although there were certain PG-13 movies I avoided, I didn't criticize others if they wanted to watch them, but if I knew of ones who watched R-rated movies, I stopped just shy of calling down fire and brimstone to rain down upon thee. LOL
As my doubts crept in, eventually I just didn't care anymore.
My favorite thing though, as I reflect on this topic, are the idiots who used to say, "When, such-and-such happened, I ALMOST walked out of the movie." I might have said this early on on my teenage years, but I quickly figured out not to say that because it's absolutely stupid. ALMOST DOESN'T COUNT. You can say that you "feel bad" that you DIDN'T walkout and that you "regret" seeing the movie, but don't bitch like the movie offended your holier-than-thou attitude, and then feign righteous indignation, when the fact is YOU DIDN'T WALK OUT! You sat there and enjoyed the demon-inspired serving from Satan's table every bit as much as the rest of us.
"I ALMOST walked out." Gimmie a break... and you ALMOST made it through Armageddon. :D

A Question Ex-Jws and Atheist On This Site
by Blue Grass ini have a question for the regulars on this site which are mainly ex-jws and atheist.
my first question is just for the atheist.
why do you guys spend so much time discussing and researching a book you believe to be fiction?
-
darkl1ght3r
HA! LOL PurpleSofa!!! What a loser...
(Oh, and I apologize for my tone in the above post everyone. That was notably more venomous than I normally prefer... but I'm sure you understand. I don't hate or have any problem at all with normal Christians, it's just the right-wing extremist ones.)

A Question Ex-Jws and Atheist On This Site

"Why do you guys spend so much time discussing and researching a book you believe to be fiction? Wouldn't it make more sense to devote your time to discussing things you believe in rather than a fairy tale?"
I'm an atheist. I research the Bible for the same reasons I enjoy Greek mythology. It's a historical curiosity that gives insight on not only the past, but also the present in that it is a major part of our culture. That brings me to the second reason why I, and others like me, study the Bible. It's constanly crammed down out throats by the religious majority in this country. I make sure I know the Bible (and the science and history that relates to it) better than they do so I can make them feel stupid when they try to tell me that the Earth is only 6000 years old, or there was once a global flood, or that I'm going to hell, or that Jesus was wise, or that God is loving and just. If Christians would stop trying to convert me, and stop trying to use my government to legislate their fucked up "morality", and stop pretending that my country was founded on "Christian values", I would stop insulting their holy book. Well, I might stop.
"And for the ex- jws (which technically includes atheist) why are you guys coming to a site on a daily/weekly basis to discuss an organization that you are no longer a part of? It seems like a lot of you guys can't move on with the rest of your lives and have nothing better to do..."
Because that "organization" has robbed so much from so many of us, including me. And even though we're out it still affects us. It's common knoweledge that when a victim of some kind of tragedy or trauma ignores the pain they feel, it continues to cause damage. That's why therapists and psychiatrists often direct such ones to a support group or something similar, where they can talk about the things that case them pain, in order to work through it. I'm sorry you can't understand that. Apparently it requires a certain mental aptitude that you do not posess. I miss my family, but they refuse to talk to me because they think that cult has the "Truth", but they don't. I devoted years of my life to that man-made organization that I'll never get back. You might not give a shit that all of that causes me pain, but I don't give a shit that you don't give a shit. I'll forget about you and your thoughtless, insipid comments the moment I navigate away from this page.
To be blunt, this site is composed of losers who are bitter and have no way of channeling their anger so they just b !# ch , whine, and complain about Witnesses and the bible.
You're on this site too, ya know.
I suggest you find something more productive to do with your time, because coming online and b !& ching about people who bitch about their past experiences and verses in the Bible they understand better than you do is getting really old, really fast... and it means you're an even bigger loser than they are.
Peace!

Cantleave, yes your story is interesting. To me, in particular because your situation mirrors mine exactly 1 year ago. But I can tell things are going much better in your situation than they were in mine, so hang in there!!! Just be true and honest with yourself and her!
