  Just to say thank you...

  on august 29, 2001, i stumbled upon a web site like no other i have ever found in cyberspace, and i have been hooked ever since.

  the purpose of this thread is to say thank you to everybody for your help, advice, and support, for putting up w/ my craziness, and entertaining my fluff w/ your replies.

  when i first posted here, with that 'relatives and relationships' thread, i was overwhelmed by the responses i got from people who really cared and wanted to help me.

  What's your dirtiest habit??

  i don't have any but i am going to tell on my lady boss, who is a 26 yr old lawyer of the hoity toity breed who was incidently born with golden slippers.

  this morning as i walked into the ladies room we passed each other as she was on her way out.

  we smiled and said hi, then next thing i see her pass her hand under a drip from the tap...and then hastily wipe her hand on the towel before rushing out.

  What gets me is the number of guys where I work who use the toilet/urinal without washing afterwards.

  Then there's the kids at the Hall who do the same, and brothers at assemblies who fail to wash their hands as well.

  Going Through A tough time

  everyone seems to be "normal" now.. while all this was going on ( and even now) i have been going through one of the most worse times.

  DID ANYONE EVER ENJOY GOING IN SERVICE?

  i was raised with a bookbag in my hand.

  every saturday and sunday our family was out in service.i vacation, temporary and auxillary and regular pioneered.

  i never enjoyed it but did it because i was supposed to do it.

  What I liked - a car group with 'fun' people. That made it go well sometimes. Also, there are some genuinely nice householders that can make it nice.

  What I disliked - leading out. When I led the group out, I felt lots of stress. Having a room full of people with little or no idea of what they want to do or who carried no territory made things difficult. There were times when the elder conducting the other bookstudy that met with us did not show and did not call me or anyone else, and there I was with one small chunk of territory and 10-15 people looking at me. And forget asking them to improvise and do some street work or something. Then there were those who always seemed a bit peeved at the arrangements I made. Sorry I couldn't always pair them up to their liking or get them into a car group with their favorite folks, but hey, I never learned to read minds. Also, when reviewing the presentation from the magazines, I could tell that practically no one had bothered to read them or prepare anything to say (couldn't blame them, but still, it was a pain in the butt to sit there and try to fish out some comments. It always amazed me how so many jws will offer magazines that they themselves had not bothered to read).

  Also, driving around and making RVs. I would rather walk, get out of the car, get some excerise. But there are those who are content to drive around all morning long, even on a nice day. I understand why, but still, my legs would at times ache for some work, and on Sundays especially it's assumed that everyone wants to do calls.

  I hate loaded cars. Some brothers had this thing about wanting to cram people into the car. I hate that. Just recently, we had 3 in the back seat and that was torture, because it was a Sunday and the group wanted to make calls. Yeah, let's cram in and drive around on a beautiful Sunday morning. I hated every minute of it. I got home and said, 'no more of that'. I haven't been out in service since.

  the back cover of the august 15 watchtower offers another example of mind control, reinforcing the concept that there are no honest people except for jehovah's witnesses, and that there is no crime within the organization ("if all people were jehovah's witnesses, who would commit crimes?"):.

  Though this is the first thread (to my knowledge) in which the article was scanned, this matter was discussed a while back, and like metatron, the words of Jesus came to my mind to. Blowing the trumpet indeed. Also, around the same time as the Awake article came out, we had a guy in a nearby city who, according to the local newspaper, turned in $700 that he found. No mention was made of his religion or anything like that. Just a guy who did good because it was the right thing to do.

  Also, the woman in the article said that if she were not a jw, she would not have returned the money. Thus, she confesses that on her own, without their religous guidance, she's not an honest person. But there are many, many honest people out there who do not need a religion to tell them right from wrong in such situations.

  Ever Shun a JW?

  my jw sister and i are on good terms, and i talk to her on a regular basis.

  on the other hand, i have a jw cousin who i hope never to talk to again.

  i have only seen her once in 30 years and that was at my sister's daugher's wedding.

  one of the nicest people i know got herself dfed a while back.

  she was divorcing her husband, found herself lonely and hurting and turned to a brother for comfort.

  well you know where that leads.
