well yesterday i go the visit of two elders of my congregation, my wife told them that i was acting like an apostat as i talked two days before to two mormons, yes i told them that that they were in a cult like the jw's and they couldn't think for themselves like us, boy i got a real sermon from them, my wife told them that i was on anti-depresants and that they made me ack a bit crazy sometimes, well i know one thing, it wont be the last time i will here from them.
i know 3 years ago i got a talk by the elders but that time it was for buying lotto tickets, again my wife found a ticket in my pocket that i forgot when i put my cholths for washing.
i got the talk, but no sanctions again.
Lapuce, you've gotten some good replies here (and some funny ones!), and yes, the incidents you mentioned are in themselves not enough to get you df'd, plus, coupled with your depression and depending on your elders, their actions at times do vary.
As far as your wife is concerned, it's rather obvious that she has bought into the 'where do your loyalties lie?' thing lock, stock, and barrel.

I&P, yeah, one -sixth is right!!...I have been buying some remastered CDs lately with liner notes and pics included - I don't know why they didn't have them w the originals (money-saving scheme I guess), but I bought them anyway because remastering really improves the sound, especialy on some older stuff.

Some good art there.....when LPs were in vogue, it was always cool checking out the covers and liner notes and picture books that were included with some.
i just had to go to meeting tonight to hear the material on the internet.
it was the usual stuff about pornography, many scriptures and three mentions of how jehovah was giving this material to the slave to give to us at this time, so there must be a reason.

YK, I think you may need to read NewWay's post a bit more carefully.
NW is certainly saying that, in the 1st century, Bible writers did indeed apply Hebrew Scripture prophecies and other scriptures to the Isreal of God in the first century. What NW seems to be saying is that the scriptures do not give license to do the same today.
i live in klumbus ohio, in a neighborhood that ain't da hood but it ain't the 'burbs either.. it seems that if you are a male under 25 in my area and you don't have a 10,000 watt car stereo that shakes the whole neighborhood, well, you're nothing.. i don't get hip-hop culture.
i think that it is a screaming commentary on the cultural rot in the usa.. could someone comfort me or help explain the appeal of this pervasive sub-culture?

ve9, good point made about the headphones. What I was simply pointing out was that dbs are a measure of loudness that is not really scaled to frequency. And yes, as you said, different types of ear damage can result depending on the type of exposure....and very importantly too, the duration of it. Also, the closer to the source, the more likelihood of damage (as with headphones).....like in a car, which is what I just don't quite get about people who blast their car systems. Good points made.
