There are still matters pertaining to the child-abuse issue that are being discussed, and rightfully so.
Do we need another big controversy? I'm not sure.
that's right, i'm yelling.
i realized something about this board.
it thrives on something big happening, something controversial.

Jesus Christ you crack me up Jesus Christ.
when does the annual report of the jan 01 wt come out?
im interested to see it?
i know they should be mailed soon, can someone post it?
Yep, no more subbies mailed in the US. I guess saving $ is more important than reaching people, but hey, that's my take on it. Some people may still be getting them in the mail until their subbie runs out; mine expires in 3/03....but I cancelled a while back....I hated reading folded magazines anyway.

the book of revelation, purported to have been written by the apostle john in his tenth decade of life, and one of the most contoversial entries into the biblical canon (so many early fathers opposed its inclusion, it made it in by the ``skin of its teeth") and full of arcane imagery and so convoluted that that it's been the cause of often bitter sectarian wrangling over its interppretation for 1900 years, seems for the wtbts to outweigh the words of jesus in its formulation of dogma.. consider how the insistence of the literal application of the 144,000, for example, has distorted -- and vitiated the impact of-- such plain-language parables as the sheep and the goats, the ten virgins and the other sheep, not to mention the influence of this book on their worldview.
in short, this one book has become for jws a prism through which to peer into the rest of the bible.
that's the view from two one five; what say you?.
I always thought it was interesting how certain books either got accepted or rejected as part of the Bible's "canon". I'm not sure about excluding Revelation, but it certainly is a puzzler and forming dogmatic teaching around such symbolisms is problematic to say the least.

Yeah, "anoited", what's up w that?
Hey Oz, as long as your hours are good, I'm all for it.
i remember one winter morning when i was 4 my mother telling me to put on my dress, we were going to the neighbor's house.
as we walked along, i noticed that my mother was carrying a steaming casserole dish.
i asked her what we were doing.
Robyn, I also grew up with the war in Vietnam on TV and my oldest brother served there. The war was a mistake and a lost cause, a waste. Sure, one might say that with "20/20 hindsight it looks like a waste, but at that time there was real fear of the "domino effect" should the Communist North win out". But in doing some reading about that war, I am convinced that it was a most tragic chapter in US history. The Congress gave LBJ the green light after the Gulf Of Tonkin incident, and things really escalated from there. Johnson had been given the power to act almost without hinderance and look at the results.
On Iraq, I am divided. I've read a lot about the reasons for acting militarily, and the reasons why it might be best not to. It's a tough call.

best sex within marriage?.
women enjoy best sex within marriage .
tue nov 12, 9:10 am et .
Not surprising......with women (and men too, well some guys anyway) sex is usually better with someone that is loved and trusted and that is committed to you and vice versa......well, it's supposed to be that way, right?
I wonder how my wife would respond to those questions about my body.
Personally, I have aways felt that, while having a "fling" could be exciting, for me the guilt and fear of losing my wife and family and reputation would hinder my enjoyment of it anyway.

after reading many posts on this site, it seems we all share the same types of fears.while witnesses, some were petrified to give a talk in the theocratic ministry school.
others were sick to their stomach to go out in door to door work.
if the elders said that they wanted to talk to you after the meeting, fear would set in throughout the whole night.
Downunderandout, isn't it amazing that you were told you lacked faith in Jehovah because you were afraid of dogs? Unreal, yet, of course, not surprising at all.
I still fear things - fear of rejection, fear of flying, fear, believe it or not, of getting into financial trouble, fear of war and terrorism. And though I am working hard on alleviating this one, I still fear death.
i recently subscribed to the wall street journal online.
i found an editorial written by a senior editor, who was a jw!!.
article 2 of 14 .
Wow, great post and comments. JT wrote:
my wife is in charge of our Newsletter so we put a NOTICE in the Newsletter stating that the local congregtion of JW have a NEW PROGRAM CALL DO NOT CALL LIST and if you would like to OP-OUT of thier monthly and quarterly visist then be sure to let the next jw who stops by to put your home on thier op-out/ DO NOT CALL LISTWhen I'd take territory out, and look over the do-not-call list on the back, I used to think: 'If everyone, or even just a good number. of people would ask that we not call, we'd really have a problem'. And as he mentioned, when people are made aware that option, many will sign up.
