Im still married to a jw man, but Im separating from him. Because I was in it and left a few years ago , he's constantly badgering me about the end coming, thinking it will make me want back in. NO WAY!
That's a smart thing. I've usually kept mum around them, but really they don't do that around me, why should I with them? Well, I guess in part because I don't want them to start "witnessing" to me, but still I should not keep myself under wraps, should I?
Thats one of my biggest stressors. Im christian now and I just keep it to myself, but do you think he would do the same, no. When I have made attempts to bring up my point of view it generally bends him out of shape like a pretzel. You might be able to get somewhere with him, because he wont have the same expectations of you, that mine does of me. As Gary mentioned, get familiar with their history, if you can show that there's no reason to believe that Jesus chose them as his people in 1918, then the whole belief crashes down. They do everything believing that the wt is gods chosen group, destroy that and you'll get somewhere.
Welcome, btw!

What is Bethel?
Bethel is the printing facility where they make the watchtower & awake magazines, along with the watchtowers books. Young people, particularly, young men, are encouraged to live and volunteer work hours as part of their service to Jehovah.
Are you studying with the witnesses Missy?

At first, I thought your list was a joke, but now I see you're not! I can't believe I used to tell my boys what a great goal bethel service would be for them to reach out for, slap my hand, I was encouraging them to go to hell/jail. I cant believe the wt cant see how much they are like the pharasees.

Did you ever try any of the awkward, and somewhat creepy suggestions in the KM for Informal Witnessing?
by miseryloveselders inthe august km, has an article entitled, "you can witness informally!
" this week's service meeting will cover half of the 13 questions.
next week, congregations will finish the article along with a box full of several experiences with successful results from informal witnessing.

I remember them suggesting that when someone says "Im not interested" we were to reply "what exactly are you not interested in?" I tried it, the lady yelled "ANYTHING YOU HAVE TO SAY!" and slammed the door. I didn't use that one again.

Out of the mouths of babes!
by TJ - iAmCleared2Land ina congressman was seated next to a little girl on the airplane when he turned to her and said, "let's talk.
i've heard that flights go quicker if you strike up a conversation with your fellow passenger.".
the little girl, who had just opened her book, closed it slowly and said to the total stranger, "what would you like to talk about?".

The meaning of Jesus' death, without Paul
by Doug Mason ini want to ask a couple of serious questions.
hopefully the number of minds will clarify this for me.. .
1. if we ignore the writings by paul and those attributed to him, would we get the idea that the death of jesus was intended to be a substitutionary payment for another person's sin?.

I didnt know him, but Im sorry for the loss of your friend. If he did committ suicide, it just shows that we just don't always know the internal torment that people are going through. Again, sorry.

Welcome & I commend you on your bravery. They are very afraid of your talking. Fortunately, you are not baptised so they can't disfellowship you . You may be treated as such, but they cant accuse you of being a scorned ex witness making this stuff up. I you havent already, look up silentlambs.org. Also andersoninfoservice(Barbara Anderson) has a thread of few pages back that you might find interesting regarding the 2 witness rule.
I pray for your sons as well as your recovery and strength to deal with this.
