I agree...
It seems that they spend the majority of their energies telling their members what they can and cannot do. It's unbelievable!
you can't do anything in the religion!
you can't hold hands with your spouse during prayers.. you can't wear a logo themed tee shirt when doing menial outdoor work at a "quick build" kingdom hall.. you have to wear a suit and tie or a dress when visiting a watchtower factory.. you can't enjoy an older recording of a favorite talk and pass it around because "the faithful slave" disapproves of that.. you can't further your education with college.. you shouldn't want to get married or have children as the end is soooo close.. they suck the life and enjoyment of people.....and i've only mentioned a fraction of things jws frown on.. .

Philadelphia Phillies...even through all of the painful seasons!
i was speaking to a friend who has also disassociated themselves as a jehovah's witness.
the curious thing to me is that this person, although having some doubts, still has the feeling that the witnesses have the truth.
they get extremely uncomfortable when the subject of religion comes up, and have a hard time coinciding what they are doing now, and their thoughts on the jw religion.. it feels like the times i have talked about the witnesses (feeling we share the same sentiments), that wall that most witnesses put up, goes up for them as well.. i dont understand...why would they still feel this way?
What if they are rejecting the deprogramming?

do you regret not having said it since you can't be afforded the opportunity now?.

I feel the same as Finally_Free...i explained some of my reasons in the letter, but not all because I wanted them to read it. I made my peace!
i'm trying to compare some statistics and figures on this to share later in the thread to see if more long-time witnesses are exiting- or are newer witnesses exiting after a shorter period of time.
and - are more people exiting in the last 10 to 15 years than before.
so your answers would be helpful in looking into this .

We all know the witnesses will be almost joyful for this news...it's another sign the end is almost here!
there always seemed to be some witnesses who seemed to be in it for the social aspect of it.
the ones who planned most of the gatherings and trips.
and the ones who got invited to the parties two states away.
I was hardcore for a bit, regular pioneer, MS, gave public talks, volunteered at assemblies and quick builds...had a few friends but wasn't really into the social aspect of it all. I left for doctrinal reasons.
an apostate for witnesses?.
i only ask because we have had several conversations with family members who want to make sure we have not become "apostates".
a rumor has been going around that we have become, sign carrying, picketing kh's attending, leaflet printing apostates.
Thanks everyone for the comments...I agree with everyone.
WTWizard...great post. I absolutely agree. They spend so much time stopping folks from thinking, doubting, questioning, that their message gets lost in the process.
