I Like this thread so much. You did a great job with your questions FW!! Miss K FAILED big time and she knows it.

Hopefully her ego won't get in the way or her brainwashing and maybe you helped her to do some critical thinking.

My daughter was studying with the JW's until 2 months ago. I was so scared they would suck her in and I gently asked her to ask questions like you did. They could not answer either, just the old rote we have the truth and because the Faithful and Discreet slave told us so. Thankfully my daughter quit studying with them because of asking querstions and now is sure they don't have the truth. Your story helped us both.

That is terrible, its abusive. I bet the big wigs, CO's. Bethel guys, speakers don't suffer in the heat. They probably sit in the AC when not out on the platform giving moronic talks about the New Kingdom. If the way they run the show is any indication of what the new Kingdom will be who wants to live there.

I have Multiple Sclerosis and I cannot sit for even 15 minutes in the heat even in the shade without having a bad attack and getting very sick and paralyzed. I guess I would not be attending any of their Conventions. Thankfully I am no longer a JW.

Raised JW from age 4 - baptized at 15 (under duress) - disfellowshipped at 18. Reinstated at 28 years old because I still believed it was the truth and I had 2 children who I wanted to save from Armageddon. Stayed in for 7 years but saw so much hypocrisy and lack of love so I disassociated myself in 1984. Never went back but still thought it might be the truth. Then in 2006 I discovered the exjw forums, especially this one and was set free with TTATT.

the late christopher hitchens decribed the word islamophobia as "created by fascists, and used by cowards, to manipulate morons.. please take half an hour to read a fascinating conversation between sam harris and ayaan hirsi ali.. ayaan is an apostate from islam.

she fled to the netherlands in '92 to escape an arranged marriage and went on to become a member of the dutch government from 2003-2006.. ayaan is now a fellow with the future of diplomacy project at the belfer center for science and international affairs at the harvard kennedy school... she lives with round-the-clock security.. "some moderate muslims hate meand yes, thats a strong word, but i think what theyve said supports itbecause i make them feel uncomfortable.

the things i talk about put them in a state of dissonance that they cant live with.

I read the article of the OP and found it fascinating. So Much so that I wanted to know who this Ayaan Hirsi Ali was. I got her book Infidel and am almost finished reading it. A must read to really understand Islam from someone who has lived it and left it.

does anyone remember when the arrangement changed from having 1 congregation servant to the body of elders arrangement.. i have been out of the religion for so long i am getting a little rusty on the changes that happened.

i am writing down my memoirs and right now i am recounting my teenage years as the daughter of a congregation servant.

there was a big change in our family life when i was 15 because of the change in the arrangement.

Thanks Blondie and everyone, I was still disfellowhipped at that time (from 1967 to 1977) so wasn't aware when it all transpired. I guess there was some other problem my Dad had because I know he was discouraged and frustrated with the politics going on (1964) in the organization.

I so wish I could talk to him now but even though he was disassociated and I was disassociated we didn't discuss JW stuff while he was alive because of my Mom who was still a devoted diehard Witness.

Did the rotating positions every year begin before 1972? Maybe that was the problem if so. As most Brothers in our congregation at that time were all new in the "truth" and not qualified.

For some reason my understanding was that my Dad resigned in 1964 as Congregation servant because he didn't like that they were introducing a body of elders. I guess I have that wrong. My Dad did quit the whole JW thing around 1972 so maybe he knew it was brewing before or I got mixed up and it was when he quit in 1972 that the change among other things didn't sit right with him..

My Dad gave his whole soul to the Watchtower Organization, gave up his good job, sold his house, hauled us out to where the need was great and lived off of meager wages by cleaning stores part time. Then 6 years later he must have seen something was wrong. My Mom and Dad revived their spirituality after a year of laying low and became special pioneers for several years. Then suddenly my Dad just quit everything and he never went back.

I Wish so much he knew about the exposure of the truth about the truth now but expecially I wish I could ask him what was going on with him then.

I will have to revise my story and leave it open as to what was going on.

Does anyone remember when the arrangement changed from having 1 Congregation Servant to the body of elders arrangement.

I have been out of the religion for so long I am getting a little rusty on the changes that happened. I am writing down my Memoirs and right now I am recounting my teenage years as the daughter of a Congregation Servant. There was a big change in our family life when I was 15 because of the change in the arrangement. It was significant for my Father and for my parents spirituality but I can't remember what exact year it happened and what the exact changes were.

I am thinking it was 1963 or 1964? My Father had been the Congregation servant for 6 years and then he stepped down because he didn't agree with the new arrangement. He is dead now so I can't ask him about it but thinking there was a lot of politics involved and he wouldn't have liked that.

I just saw that he died, OH NO!! I absolutely loved their songs. All I have to do is dream was one of my favorites.

74 years old, that is young to die nowadays. RIP
