And yes, I can see the irony there!!!!! I should have walked when I had the chance! Quads - doing the math, they would have to have been born in 1982 or 3.

Wow, I thought he'd last forever! He studied with my ex and I in the 70s. I gave him a hard time. I'd ask a hard question, and his wife, Mary, would say, "Oh Carole", and I'd think well if they can't answer that, I'm out of here!
He was a man that 'walked the walk'. Anybody know how old the quads are?

when i left the org.
the blood issue wasn't an issue for me.
my best friend was on the blood committee for years and i could see many cases where either blood wouldn't have saved the person anyways (like when a person is in a serious car accident and their liver is in pieces), or blood actually killed the person and/or hindered recovery.. then my little nephew got leukemia.
Let me tell you about my experiences with blood. I remember the horror stories from the Borg - you'll take on characteristics of the person that gave you the blood, and such.
In 1978 I had an emercency c-section, the anaesthetic didn't agree with me, and my liver collapsed. I was a week in intensive care, my baby survived just fine. I refused blood like a good little jdub that I was. In those circumstances I was told later that if I'd have had blood it might have tipped my liver over the edge, and I might have died.
In 1999 I had brain surgery for a pituitary tumour. It's the major gland in the body, and it's behind your eyes. They go up through your nose, very gruesome. The doctor missed, hit my carotid artery. You can imagine what happened. They abandoned the surgery, pumped me full of blood, and sewed me up. I heard later that they used buckets of the stuff! I was picking dried blood out of my hair for days until they let me get up! Also, in those circumstances having blood was the right thing to do. Actually, about a year later, I felt like I had a new lease on life, I felt full of energy.
So, the bottom line is, it depends on the circumstances.
My 2 cents,

well, i wondered how long it would take until my gossip-hen of a retired neighbour would say something to me about our jw neighbours.
here is the rundown, i live in a nice middle-class neighbourhood.
homes aren't small, but they aren't huge either.
Wing Commander, I had something similar. I worked at the Post Office about 25 years ago. I was doing my fade and this young elder from a neighbouring cong came to work as a casual.
One of the posties asked him were he lived, and he replied. The postie asked which house, because that's what posties did! He told them which house, and the postie said, Oh, God, why don't you clean up your yard, it's a mess!
I, of course, heard this, and the elder was so embarrassed. Served him right though! Never did learn whether he cleaned up the place!

after all the years i have been here, i have slowly progressed to the point that the bible, god, and all the other religious stuff out there is just plain bullshit!!!
yet when i first came here and was told by some of the members that that is what i would logically come to, i did not believe them, and yet they were right.
i realize that a lot of people on this board have left, or are struggling with themselves or family to leave, yet many still believe.
Sorry AllTimeJeff, not AK Jeff, I was on page 2, it's Monday (here, anyway) and it's been a tough day!!!

I come here because of what VIII said - my sons are still in and I need hope that they'll wise up one day.
I could say what AK-Jeff says, some days it's for me, some days it's for others, but no, it's for me.
I love this site, i was a lurker for ages. I found this site ages ago, when I typed in 607bc into google (it was a slow day). All the info I got was eye opening. I haven't been inside a kh since the 80s, and i've got rid of most negativity in my life, but it just eats me up that my kids, who I used to drag to the meetings went back.

i've noticed we have a few male posters here with wives who are still in the jws.
and i can think of one female poster (cognac) with a husband in the jws (although things are looking up for her).
of course we have a few spouses that came out together.. is it me, or does it seem like the women here are more likely to have divorced their jw husband--even before leaving--whereas the men are more likely to stay with their wives?
I faded because it dawned on me that the holy spirit wasn't working on my abusive jw husband. Then I started being assertive and he realised he couldn't control me any more. He left a week after we came back from the UK. Guess who had to pay the bill?
Then he sent me a letter admitting an affair while we were married so I could have 'my' scriptural divorce! What did I care? I was divorcing him anyway.

i am getting a lot of emails and calls from people who want legal help or counsel because they are divorcing a jw (or vice-versa) and they need help.. i know duane magnani and bill bowen, and recommend them at times, but i am looking for others who might be good referrals as well.
if you have had a good experience with someone, please email me (don't respond here please) [email protected].. yours,.
randy watters.
In Australia try http://www.austlii.edu.au/. Type Jehovahs in the search. There are lots of cases about child custody and it's eye-opening how judges, etc, view the machinations and motivations of jws.
