i just wondered how people feel about this?
- do some only mix with other ex witnesses a couple of my friends, and it seems that by definition, they are 'ex witnesses' almost like a religion in itself.
- i would never define myself as an 'ex employee of xxx' as you leave it behind it doesnt define you.
Hard question! I am just me, but when I start talking to people, then you get onto family, then it gets a bit hard.
"Yes, I have two sons, and three grandsons."
So, where to they live?
"Well, I don't really know"
Oh, why not?
"Well, they're Jehovahs Witnesses and don't talk to me"!
Then the real questions start!!!! Good anti-witness, though!
But apart from that, I've moved on, got a degree, great job, great partner.

I guess he was prosecuted because that's how it starts in some cases. Soon writing about it won't be enough.
I know that the State Library of Queensland, Australia pulled a book off the shelves, and in all the public libraries in the state, because it was deemed inappropriate. The story was similar, an older man and a teenage girl.

OK, my rant - "won without a word" isn't that the biggest load of hogwash! I was reading a previous post about it being OK to hit your wife. The scenario is usually an 'unbelieving mate' being won without a word.
This is where I realised my ex was a hypocrite in a cult full of hypocrites. I was emotionally abused, and on one occasion hit, by my so-called 'believing' mate. Where was Jehovah's spirit then? I realised that I didn't want to be a hypocrite, and that's why I stopped going.
I realised that the term means that you lead by example, but even if you put up with being treated like sh**, the other bad examples of the jdubs will outweigh your little contribution, don't you think?
Most 'worldly' people will think you are just stupid staying with somebody who hits you, they won't think that you are noble!

i have been looking at this website for about 2 months now and feel i am now ready to say hi and intoduce myself.i dont want to give out too much info at this point in time as i still am in the org, but have only been to 2 meetings since the district convention in august and last time i went out on service was in march.
i was basically raised in the truth as my parents became jw when i was 2. i was married in my late teens and after 21 years of being married to a total control freak he left me (yay).
anyway since me ex left, i had been doing a lot of thinking about being a witness, and i wasnt really going to a lot of meetings - just didnt feel like it.

i wondered how did your "best" jw friends react to when you told them you're leaving wts?.
after i found out all i needed to know i called up my old friend who i thought was a good friend but i knew he was a die hard dub and i told him to write down a book and read it.
i was refering to russell's thy kingdom come.
I had one friend that I'd had for ages. I never mentioned how abusive my ex was, because you didn't talk about that stuff! I hadn't gone to meetings for years, but she never asked, and I never told! But the week after my ex and I broke up, she rang and asked for me to visit. I said I couldn't because I was going somewhere with my mother, and I never heard from her again! No loss.
I always say - a friend loves you even if you're crazy!

just a wandering thought, what kind of religon would the jw's be if the situation was reversed and the gb was all female, only women could hold postions of power in the cong etc....?.

Impossible, the GB would not exist. Female-centric organisations are not power-based. Matriarchial societies are are more about power sharing. Female religions are not organised.
