Draconian Rules for Attending "Special Convention"
by BluesBrother inbritish dubs are invited to attend a special convention next summer in dublin , irish republic.
o k, this kind of trip has been done many times before.
however i have never seen such a crude and rigid set of rules that would apply to their own people going on a trip, at their own expense of course.

Hey Governing Body! Why Not A Trial Dedication?
by metatron inwell, the latest yearbook tells a sad story: 263,131 baptized versus 294,368 in the previous year.. a nasty decline...... obviously, this situation calls for something fake and superficial to remedy it, governing body-style!.
the glorious masters of time and space discerned some malaise in the organization, so they cut hours for auxiliary pioneering and got a huge increase!
in previous years, they cut the minimum time per month needed to be a publisher from 1 hour down to 15 minutes!

Awakening of the young through education
by JWB inawakening of the young through education.
a recent special report (january 2012) by peter henderson and kristina cooke, of the news agency reuters, focused attention on a problem facing the mormons with regard to falling membership.
mormon elder marlin jensen said that he and other leaders of the religion knew that members are "leaving in droves".

New one
by freshcrepes ini've been lurking on this forum for over a year, and i thought i'd say a quick hello.. .
i was raised as a jehovah's witness and managed to endure past the encouragement that one receives from age 16 onwards about what is holding me back, and never got baptised.
i figured that making one of the most important decisions of my life requires a lot more thought than people seemed to be giving it, and shouldn't be based on emotion as is quite common.. .

welcome freshcrepes,
great that you never took the plunge, I too held out, thinking one should never be pressured, sadly I gave in when I was 21 but same year I stopped field service & never to start again.

Another day, another apostate. Here's my story.
by I Want to Believe inbeen lurking for a bit, and feel safe enough now to tell my story (condensed).. i'm a third-generation born-in, but my parents were inactive for most of my upbringing.
this means i got the worst of both worlds--no worldly friends (home schooled all but grades 2-3), no witness friends (since we never went to the hall except for memorial), and a generally isolated upbringing in a tiny, tiny town.
needless to say, my emotional, social, and personal growth were stunted.

How did Jehovah's Witnesses come to use the phrase: New Light?
by Terry inin the middle of the 18th century in america, a crisis of faith arose.. traditional belief about the destiny of christians in the new world had been tested and proved false.
instead of spreading a pure and just society across north america which the whole world would see and hold in great esteem, everything was chaos, controversy and opposition!.
puritans, congregationalists, baptist, catholics hated each other even though christ was the center of their very worship!!.
