I'm new here
by Diamonds ini stumbled across this website a few months back and have often read the topics posted but this is the first time that i've posted anything myself.. all my family are jws - i got baptized when i was 17 but started to fade when i was about 20 and finally left at 22 when i managed to escape to university and move away from home.
ten years on and i am still out of the org but never disfellowshipped (although i would have been if they'd have known what i've been up to!).
the relationship with my family is not great - i get on with some members better than others.

9/11....what if a plane hit the Watchtower building instead!!!!
by Witness 007 inthe society would sell the land and claim insurance.
no need to fire 1,000 bethelites so they could move to watchtower farms.
they would claim we are "near the end of the system" and satan is attacking god's people.

'Mission: Impossible' actor Peter Graves found dead
by Yizuman inlos angeles, california (cnn) -- actor peter graves, best known for his starring role on tv's "mission: impossible," was found dead sunday at his home, according to a spokeswoman for the los angeles police department.
he was 83.. there was no sign of foul play in the actor's death, officer karen rayner said.. graves portrayed the character jim phelps for all but one of the seven years "mission: impossible" ran on cbs, from 1967-1973. he won a golden globe in 1971 for his work on the show, and he was also nominated for an emmy.. he reprised the role from 1988 to 1990 when the show resurfaced on abc.. in an interview with cnn in 1996, graves expressed disappointment with hollywood's movie version of "mission: impossible" -- starring tom cruise -- which included none of the stars from the original tv series.
actor jon voigt played the phelps character.. "i am sorry that they chose to call him phelps," he said at the time.

Do You Personally Know Of Anyone That Committed Suicide?
by minimus inlately, i've come to find out that a more than a few people in the area had killed themselves.
most of the people i know of were in their early twenties or forties.
for those loved ones surviving them, it was mostly a shock!

Yes
1. My (at the time) to be wife's uncle (non JW but family was) hung himself, found by his 10 year old son.
2. Six months later son of a friend (unbaptised) hung himself, he had been asking how #1 did it a couple of days earlier.
3. A JW brother killed himself with a rifle, after being falsly accused of a number of indessances by his wife, and was leaving him "never to see his children again" sort of thing. He had previously been a MS.
First 3 were all associated one way or another with the same congregation.
4. I knew of this person when he was very young in my congregation before I left home, as a young adult and a baptised brother he gassed himself in his car, I believe it was bcoz his girlfriend broke off engagement.
5. Wife of an elder who was once a CO, I remember them doing the rounds when I was young, I believe she had alot of mental problems, left behind a young son.

How would you describe your Congregation
by Truthexplorer ini would describe my congregation on the whole as quite wooden ad robotic.
though there are some genuine sincere and loving brothers/sisters, there is overall something missing in my hall.
i dont feel incited to love and fine works by the brothers.. i find the boe as a whole - to be quite distant.
