Do You ENJOY The Holidays & Birthdays Now That You Can Celebrate Them?
by minimus inwhether it be father's day, mother's day, christmas or even a birthday, do you actually enjoy the celebrations, the spending of $$, and all that these festivities entail?.
or would you rather be a jw (just) for those times and not deal with it all?.

I absolutely love them! Always said that I wouldn't bother if I were to ever leave the JWs, but when I did leave I immersed myself in everything I could celebrate. I just use them as a reason to have fun and celebrate my life and freedom to choose. Luckily, my husband and kids all left with me, so it was great to have our first Christmas, birthdays etc. as a family.

Interesting phenomenon I'm seeing on Facebook
by JimmyPage init's becoming more and more evident that many young jws just don't care about the wt rules anymore.
one jw on facebook has particularly intrigued me lately.
he posts pics of himself sporting (gasp) a beard and uses curse words in his status updates.

Yes, I've noticed the same! I've had JWs add me as friend on there too, even though I've been 'apostate' for years. Not just young ones either!

Yet one more thread on the new "generation".... Oh, Joy!
by undercover ini know, i know... some of ya'll are gettin' sick of this "generation" thing... .
but for whatever reason, i had not seen this actual quote from the dc talk (that or had not paid much attention to it until now).
seeing it in print really brought home how desparate they are to try to hang on to 1914 in whatever way they can.

So by the WT definition of 'generation', my 17 year old daughters are of the same generation as my nan, (their great grandmother, born 1902), because she passed away after they were born. They were contemporaries for a while until she died.
That's ludicrous! Who would define a generation like that? Where do they get 2 groups from? 'This generation' doesn't indicate 2 groups!

I just found a site for Jah Jireh care homes for elderly JWs. ( www. jah-jireh.org )
I didn't know this existed! The site has life stories of some of the elderly residents. Of course, there's also a donation facility on the home page in bold type if any of us want to contribute.

Wasn't there something about breasts being like a wall or towers in Solomon? It was in that Shulamite Maiden song as well I think. We used to giggle at that as kids.

What happened to Terry and Marion Draper? They were quite nice as far as I can recall. Although I was quite young when they stayed with us.

Jehovah's Witness warning: "Watch out for the movie Avatar".
by Cindi_67 inthis is an email i received from my brother in law:.
after discussing with our family and several friends about the popular movie avatar, and the prevalence of "avatars" on the internet, we thought that other friends might be interested in what we found in our family worship research, tell us what you think:.
merriam-websterdictionary - avatar: the incarnation of a hindu deity (as vishnu).

How petty! I wouldn't even think of looking up the name! Have they nothing better to do? Not surprising, though, I had moved out and got my own TV before I could watch Top of the Pops, any of the soaps, Scooby Doo, E.T., Grease, Fame... the list goes on!

An announcement from the Watchtower?
by ThomasCovenant into be read by the co-ordinator of the body of elders at the earliest opportunity to the whole congregation, a copy of which is to be posted on the kingdom hall noticeboard and preferably local and national newspapers.. to the worldwide brotherhood of jehovah's witnesses;.
dear brothers and sisters,.
it is with a heavy 'heart of wisdom' that we address you all today.. we have thought long and hard, and some of us even prayerfully, of how to bring out this latest 'new light'.. for many years now we have taught what we thought were delightful words of truth.
