on friday, one of the patients who is a jw gave the doc the latest mags.. at lunchtime, the doc handed them to me and asked if i wanted to read them.
(if you remember, i am df'ed and the cleaning lady at work made a point of making sure the doc i work for knows it.).
i took them and said, "you're not going to read them?".
Palmtree, yes a good experience and I don't blame you for not reading any mags, but sometimes I'll read some of my wife's, and I'm glad I do because some of the control they want on people comes right through in the mags and it makes me so happy and content with my decision never to under their control. I totally agree with cantleave, I wont go anymore because I want to be honest and not hypocrital and I cant stand how they twist things and have so many double standards. I dont want to live like that, just want to be honest.

well, some of you know that i have a 16 year old son who lives with his jw mother.
she has already mastered the art of guilt control on him.
i am most anxious that he not get baptized at all or at least unless he has really understood the whole truth, not just the watchtower truth.
Hi aussie, thats great your son can be himself when he is with you. Keep planting those seeds, and its good that you are truthful to him.

just noticed that in the february 2010 study edition of the watchtower, they refer to the "millions now living will never die" talk in 1918, but they have changed the title to "millions now living may never die".
only problem, they included the picture of the invitation to the talk, which says 'will'.. ooops.
it's on page 16. enjoy.. .
I can't beleive how subtly they are in changing the wording from "will" to "may". If I told my jw relatives they will say that I'm picking on very minor things. I'm glad I don't have to listen to their bs anymore.

these are things i always had a very hard time explaining and believing as a jw:.
birthdays whether at school or at work, this one was really tough to explain to a non jw.
i mean seriously, makes absolutely zero logical sense...salvation it was very hard to wrap my head around the idea that a loving god could destroy billions of people; and this, after reading the ot and the many baby slaughters therein...smoking say what you will about this unhealthy habit, making it a dfing offence because of dubious ties to spiritism??
I too could never explain how I believed it ALL. And not talk to disfellowshiped ones (what a self-righteous idiot). My best friend is dfs, I've faded, but I will never be a hypocrite again!!!!!!!!!!!!

first new topic for me.. i have observed this site for about 4 years.
haven't been to a meeting since oct 2005. definitely feel jws are a high control group that mirrors many of the definitions of a cult.. i was raised as a witness since age 5, left at age 38, now 43. happily married to a wonderful woman for 24 years, except for 1 year of separation when i was failing miserable in a search for my true self - hard to do when you were completely sucked into this religion.
yes, i was a true believer pretty much up into my late 30s.
Great story aggie, it really sounds alot like mine, except I lost my first wife(I'm sorry I did she was and still is a wonderful woman and mother) and married someone I met at work and now she's left me(karma I suppose).
I was dfs but got back in, anyway I don't want to bore you, I enjoyed your story. I couldn't stay in the org as to many hypocrites and to many lies.

i know of an elderly, pioneer sister who has a disfellowshipped son with a terminal illness.
and until recently, she has had no contact with him.
her son doesn't really have much longer to live.
emptyinside: thats so sad, I can't believe we let these people (use to) control not only our minds, but our entire lives. Thank God I'm no part of them anymore.

my wife and i have been married before and we have been married for about 9 months.
since we got married my wife has been going to the meetings to get reinstated (she wants to have a relationship with her kids and with mine as we have both had grandkids now).

cantleave- I'm not openly apostate and the only reason I don't want to be df's is because I still want a relationship with my kids. But I'm not scared of them.
My wife did contact them and said that I don't want to return and they seem to be happy with that for now.

Thanks you guys, I've been feeling like sh-t today!! The way they make you feel, its like do what you want with me, just leave me alone..Its nice to see I'm not alone and I've learnt so much here. Just don't know which way to go.. Have most of my family in the org..
