You can always explain to your wife that you just aren't comfortable going to meetings anymore, remove yourself from being a servant, stop meetings and service, but don't talk anymore (at least until you feel it is safe) about what you have discovered. You have a right to make decisions about how your child is raised, so you can demand things there, as well. Just keep researching, take your time with it, but if meetings, etc. are just unbearable, then you'll have to make a desicion about that. I hope things go well. That said, many of us have not had an easy time since leaving, but I think everyone who has left says even though it's been difficult, with the shunning thing, it's still been worth it.

Serious Dissent Now Blowing The Roof Off Of Scientology
by mind blown inhttp://blogs.villagevoice.com/runninscared/2012/06/scientology_roanne_leake_ron_miscavige_sr.php.
multiple sources are telling the voice that scientology's international base in california has experienced stunning new defections -- roanne leake, who is l. ron hubbard's granddaughter, has "blown" the base, which was her home for more than 20 years.
but just as shocking, at about the same time, the base was also abandoned by david miscavige's father, ron miscavige sr.. we sent a request for comment to scientology spokeswoman karin pouw, but have not received a reply.

I can't cover all this right now, but if they are holding people against their will, why isn't the FBI getting in there?
Pretty unbelievable! (That's not meant to be sarcastic.)

And where's the innocent cat that gets destroyed with the wicked, who looked like normal working folk to me! So, all the other doomsayers are wrong because there is no proof, but they are right!!! Why would they expect a reader to accept their word that all the others are wrong but they aren't?!

I was one who wouln't explain to family why I was shunning my daughter, out of embarrassment. Why dont' we wake up sooner and realize if something makes you that embarrassed that you won't even tell others what you are doing, then something is wrong with that picture!!

Hospitality after Public Talk - ???
by RubaDub ini see a lot of mentions about hospitality after the public talk and honestly, i guess it is a practice that was not in the ny/ct area i grew up in or here in south florida today.. i grew up with an elder father and grandfather who gave public talks and were generally well-liked.
as a child, i never recall being invited to someone's house after the meeting.
granted, it was rare to travel more than an hour but regardless, it was typical to get in the car and head home after the "amens.

We had them here in the midwest. It seemed always a strain on the elders because no one would sign up. We were in the rurals, and people didn't have a lot of money. A bit closer to the suburbs now, and the Spanish cong. held their weekly bookstudy in one room while we had our Thursday meeting. Once a month they'd have a pot luck, and I mean it was a feast. There were at least six crock pots going, a table absolutely covered in food. Must be a cultural thing. I tried all of their foods, but just couldn't stomach Mexican food. The best I can do is Taco bell, which I know isnt' REAL Mexican. Our old cong. in the rural area stopped the food night for the study held at the hall because someone said they left a mess behind. Of course the complainers weren't the ones who attended that book study. ANd I know we clean up. Loving people there.

I believe in my state of Missouri, if I read it correctly, there is no statute of limitations for that, so it depends upon each state.

Good. They need to get this out that it is a worldwide problem with this organization! Good work. I contacted many major papers, based on a thread on here or another site, don't remember, and have received general replies at least that they received it.

WTS cannot take a "kinder, gentler" stand on GLBT
by irondork inin another thread, socrateswannebe shared district convention notes:.
a kinder, gentler jehovah emerges at the 2012 dc?.

I no longer matters to me if they do become kinder and gentler. They've already done too much damage to ever make up for it, as far as I'm concerned.

Artificial Hearts
by LauraMyers1 ini am currently in my first year of sixth form and am completing an extended project on the future of artificial hearts.
a part of this project will include religious and ethical views on the devices.. there are two types of these devices: ones with a constant flow (i.e.
they don't beat or pump as a human heart would), and ones which have a pumping action.. if you have any opinion on this, as in if you would have one if needed as opposed to a transplant or if you think that making something like this is right, i would greatly appreciate your comments, from both a religious and personal point of view.. it would also be of interest if you could state your views on total heart transplants.. thankyou for your help.

I believe, though dont' have documents to prove, (I have left the religion) that they Used to think your heart did have effects on your thinking. The interesting, if I'm correct, is that, havent' they recently come out saying that the heart does contain some neurons, such as are in the brain? Anyway, at present, I don't think jws would be against the artificial or transplanted hearts, as their policies currently stand. Be aware, those can change any day. To be honest, they used to think that your very being of who you are was held in your blood, because of a scripture that says something like, "the life, the soul, is in the blood." Because of this, they actually believed that if your child were forced by court order to receive a blood transfusion to save it's life, then "it wasn't the same child anymore." Some jws have refused to take their children home from the hospital in years past, and even very recent years in Africa, because a blood transfusion was forced on the child and the parent(s) believed it "was no longer their child anymore.) This used to occur in the United States as well. They have changed their teaching on that, now, so you'll only find old timers make comments like I heard about 25 years ago when a couple had to have their child take blood by court oder. The man, an elder, said to his wife, "That's not their child anymore." By this they meant, they thought the child became, or took on the personality of whomever's blood they were given. I suppose in some cases, that might lead to a case of multiple personalities. lol
