17 years after high school, i am still bummed i didn't get to play football or baseball.

The new kids DVD - was it deliberate? What are we missing?

normally i don't go in for these conspiracy theory ideas, but a comment by kurtbethel on another thread got me to thinking.
might this latest dvd actually be proof that there are operatives inside watchtower hq who are deliberately sabotaging the society's material?

For me, most of it resides in the facial expression. In animation, every movement in every frame is very carefully crafted. A lot of this centers on the mom, and the difference between what she was saying and her facial expressions. A good example of this is when she mentions Caleb's friends, the disapproval is strong. Then there is the way she hisses out the name "Satan". A lot of effort was made to make her appear evil and manipulative. Another example is the hissy fit she threw in Caleb's mind as he thought about her finding out he had gotten dirt on the floor. It was very over played. This video makes JW mothers appear shrewish, manipulative and evil. Someone inside had to be aware of this, even as many were also clueless about how this would appear to outsiders. Another thing is Caleb's expressions. Even though he did the "right thing" to make Jehovah happy, it is very obvious that this whole episode really crushes his spirit, right up to the very end. Perhaps a manifestation of what some of the producers felt in their own JW past?

Though this process Caleb is so sad. And its not that he's getting a rewarding satisfaction of "learning" something. Its so clear that he is just getting railroaded into doing something contrary to his nature and to common sense, forced to accept it, and then partially placated by his moms emotional bait and switch to some lame biking adventure.
And the mother is very extreme in her facial expressions. Her sighs of disapproval (in front of Caleb and even when he isn't watching), her manipulative glances and glares, her over-reactive sobbing. She is cold and says ridiculous things like, I'm proud of you for obeying, as if Caleb was supposed to be a loyal pet dog and she's having trouble breaking him.

by CaptainSchmideo indo you all realize how much of a spoiler this is for the wtbs?
the convention cycle hasn't even started it's third week, and this dvd is getting full viewing all over the internet!
it's short enough and episodic enough to encapsulate on youtube, and has enough visual appeal to be more eye catching than the normal video products of the society.

The trouble is not the name so the construction company is not an issue. Uploading the entire content of a video that they produced, created and own could certainly be grounds for complaint though. It will come.

The video of the dirty footprints/cleaning up marbles --> whatever, really. Its over the top but listening to parents about basic safety and cleanliness is not the wrong thing when you're 0-3 years old. I dont know. It was ridiculous but not upsetting to me.
The video of the toy --> made my jaw drop (literally). That was scaaaaaaary. Mom was even made to look like a complete B**** when she scolded him. I was scared of her. And the kid looked soooooooooooo sad. You could see his natural thinking being eaten away as he was manipulated.

Great stuff, pretty fun and cathartic to think back to all these feelings from back in the day.
Another one:
Once had a non-witness GF who I was ashamed to tell about being a JW at first and going to meetings all over the week. She would want to call me though and chat, as is usual. I told her (accurately) that my free minutes didn't start till after 9:00 pm. Well on meeting nights of course the meetings ended at 9:15... or 9:20... or worse. For a couple months I had to bridge those awkward 15 minute gaps until I could run out and call her back. Sometimes I'd miss the call and explain it away or text her that I was busy with dishes or something and I'd call in 10 minutes. Once I ran to the parking lot at 9:00, talked for 10 minutes, said I had to run to the bathroom and returned for the prayer and a few minutes of socializing before running back out. It was absurd. I've never cheated but I felt like I was hiding a second girlfriend.

Hahah about the account servant thing.
There were some DUMB freakin rules. The one that said leave the boxes unlocked and open after you collect was the worst because you always had to come EARLY to relock them. Why in the hell don't you just leave the damn things LOCKED ALL THE TIME???? So I just started leaving them locked on Sunday afternoon cuz our Tuesday meeting was next. Then I just started leaving them locked all the time to try to confuse the account servant in the other congregation and get him to do it so that I'd never have to come early. But that never worked.
