Tubal pregnancy.....here's a mind-boggler......
by goddess_baal in.
i always wondered (even when i was still in the organization), but never had the guts to ask.. if a woman becomes pregnant, but the egg has implanted in the falopian tube....will the jw's condone an abortion to save the life of the mother?
or does it boil down to their usual pansy-ass, "matter of conscience" excuse.

I don't know what the "official" word is on this, but around 20 years ago this happened to a good friend. When she told me she was going to the hospital to have the tube removed I inadvertently gave her a look of horror. (really embarrassed now thinking how stupid that was) She simply replied "well, the baby can't live anyway." That was the end of the conversation. It really is that simple. I really would be intested in hearing what the WTS says about this.

How Do You Handle Dubs At The Door?

At first I would not answer the door. Then my adult son was over one day and let a "sister" in. By the way, this was several years after we stopped attending meetings. She must have been auxillary pioneering because it was right before the Memorial. Shortly thereafter a very nice older sister began to call on us. My daughter would answer the door and take the magazines because she didn't want to be rude. I finally got sick of being disturbed and politely told her that we didn't read the magazines and that she shouldn't waste her time. She seemed genuinely upset. Guess she really doesn't want us to die at the "Big A". Or maybe she just didn't want to miss an easy return visit and magazine placement. This was several months ago and we haven't been bothered since. I'll bet the gossip mill is running wild.
You know, it really felt like a load was lifted off my shoulders when I finally spoke up. I am beginning to feel a sense of contentment that I didn't feel in my 23 yrs. as a JW.

What effect did, being called "Brother or Sister" have on you?
by JH ini remember a month ago, receiving a slip at my door, saying that the memorial is this coming sunday, and it was signed by an elder, saying "your brother" elder so and so.
it was as if he and i were at the same level by writting "your brother".
the first reaction i had, seeing "your brother", acted as if we had a special bond, with a responsibility attached to it.. do you think that being called "brother or sister" is a way of manipulating you, a way of getting more out of you?

When I was "in" being called "sister" made me feel special. After all, I was part of this wonderful, exclusive group of people who were going to live forever. After I was "out" I was at a friends house and her daughter called me "sister". I truly got a sick feeling in my stomach. It seemed so superficial. That was several years ago and I am glad I have never been called "sister" since then.

Nina, my mom has been in a nursing home for about two years with Alzheimers and various other problems. I just got her on hospice last week. The hospice program is wonderful. It takes a special person to do that type of work and they are really a great help. I feel that my mom is getting more attention and better care now. Everyone in a nursing home should be treated that well. It's a shame that they have to wait until the end is near. Hang in there Nina. I understand what you are going through. It's tough but we will get through it.

The Memorial was the last meeting that I attended after missing meetings for many months. I was very uncomfortable and knew that I would never again set foot in a KH. Haven't regretted that decision for one minute. Maybe your wife will feel the same after attending.

Matt sounded much better after he won yesterday. He seemed relaxed and his personality kicked in when he was singing.

Those performers really were awful last night. I am really getting sick of this show but somehow I just can't seem to stop watching it. I think we all know which two will move on tonight.
