Very interesting Scully. So, the WBTS can decide which pagan practices are OK and which ones are not. Hypocrites!

by out4good3 ini apologize in advance if this is a stupid question but can someone clue me in as to the supposedly pagan origins of wearing wedding rings or bands?

You all Rock!!!
by tattoogrl333 ini just wanted to thank everyone.
i used to study with a jw and i would come to this site (against her wishes) and ask dumb questions, and you would answer and give me something to think about.
i was sure the lady i was studying with was my friend and out to help me.

So glad that you checked in here! I was wondering how you were doing. I always enjoyed your posts back in my lurker days. Wish the internet was around when I was stupid enough to get involved back in the 70's. Maybe I would have listened. Glad that you did!

September 11, 2001
by teenyuck ini am watching the news and crying...i did not see the cbs special or 60 minutes last night; i just heard a phone call someone made from the 86th floor of the first tower...he was trapped and called his wife to tell her he loved her and was trying to get out... .
i can recall having on nbc that morning...i switch between that and cnbc.
when the reporters tried to understand what was happening, other reporters were running to the wtc to see what had happened.... as the images were shown, it was terrifying....i, like many, thought it was a small plane that crashed...as the information came out that it was a jumbo jet, the feeling was a profound feeling of illness..... as the news shows watched the first tower burn, the second airline came and right before our eyes crashed into the second tower....then 30 minutes later, the pentagon was hit...then a plane hijacked in pennsylvania.

The CBS special last night was amazing. I was glued to the TV. It gave a whole new perspective to 9/11. If it is repeated do not miss it!

Just want to say how much I enjoyed this topic. It brought back a lot of great memories. Growing up in the 50's and 60's was great! Kids today don't know what simple pleasures they are missing.

I love sitcoms. Frazier is my favorite. Next is Everyone Loves Raymond. I will be watching "Raymond" in a whole new light now. My son and daughter-in-law were over watching it with us the other night. Never saw her laugh so hard. She said that this is our family, that my son is Raymond. I said don't tell me that I'm his mother! They both said that I am just like her! OMG!!! At least I will never put plastic on my furniture!

Whats your fav song or band?
by Beans inother than the kingdom songs i`m sure we must have squeezed in some time to listen to the radio between territories and on the way to the mettings.. my musical tastes vary from classical to heavy head banging music, basically i like everything!i love the cult, rush, van halen, boston, etc anything from the 80`s retro era.. but my favourite song would be everything counts by depech mode and she sells sanctuary by the cult!.

Aerosmith is my favorite band. They put on the best live show.
Sammy Hagar is a blast to see live. His concerts are a big party!
Other favorites are Kid Rock, AC DC, GNR, Van Halen, Metallica, Def Leppard. Maybe I should stop now and just say that I love Rock! -

***AN EXPERIENCE !!! ***
by zev intoday, a coworker finished reading my d.a.
letter i have prepared, but not sent yet.. part of my recovery from the damaged caused from membership in the cult has been to be open and honest as to who i am, was and what i was involved in.. so i gave him the letter to read, and he gave it back today, two weeks later, and said:.
"i told my wife, if they ever come knocking at our door, tell them to leave, and if they won't, call the police".

Zev, all I can say is WOW! What a great letter! Seeing everything written down in black and white really made my blood boil. I sure can see why you say if JW's were to knock on your door it would get ugly. Your research has certainly helped me and many others. Thank you so much!
JT, thank you too! Every now and then I wonder if maybe I should write a DA letter. Thanks to your excellent post this will no longer be an issue for me. I will not play the game!
Thanks again to both of you! -

Why I Became an Inactive Witness
by Dutchy ini used to be a gungho witnesses.
i was even a full time pioneer with small children and i used to drag my kids with me from door to door, in the heat of summer and in the cold of winter.
goin from door to door in buildings where crime was rampant and where i should not have been in the first place.

Hi Dutchy and welcome!
Isn't it weird how when we're "in" we really believe all the crap that is fed to us. Then when we leave and are on the outside looking in we get such a clear picture about the "truth". Then we go around kicking ourselves and wondering how we could have ever fell for it. Be glad that you didn't waste any more years and can now get on with real life. I sure wish that I would have woke up a looong time ago! -
