Are we losing members quicker than the WT ??

reading a thread from just a few months ago, made me realise that a lot of people who used to be regular contributors here no longer do so.. i know that people have always moved on, as the anger and hurt get less, as the wt mind-set totally disappears, we feel the need to come here less and less, but because of the intelligence, insight, wit and wisdom of these people, the board is somewhat impoverished each time one of these moves on.. this is a plea to all who post now, and some who still read but don't post, please do not leave us entirely, the contributions on here are literally life-saving for many.

it is easy to get dangerously suicidal when the whole wt pack of cards falls down for you.. please do not become a stranger to us !.

Hi Sylvia... I am an ambi-dext-erous ass kicker again. Still having a little trouble running... but it's getting better every day.

Problem is my back and knee on the other leg have a conference call when they try to predict the weather... The ankle just doesnt have the experience but gets and equal vote....

How Being a Witness made you Lose out on Higher Education and Careers

hi, folks.

been thinking of this, because of having been raised in the witnesses.

i reflect back on opportunities i would have encountered and seized, had it not been for being controlled by the witness organization being told higher education was not needed.

I was offered a full ride ROTC scholarship. Blew 3 hours taking the ASVAB (just to get out of class one day) and scored very high on it.

A couple of months before HS graduation and registered letter from the Dept of the Navy showed up. I read it and tossed it. Mentioned it to my Dad a year or so ago (he's out for a long time).... he never had a clue.

This was 33 years ago... If I'd gone through with it I'd probably be a retired Naval Officer with a Masters in something and a good civilian gig today

Another marriage bites the dust thanks to the WT

i've known about this couple for a long time and attended their bible studies on occasions.

susan, the wife, has been having a study with the witnesses on and off for 16 years, (yeah i know, one of very useful wet day pioneer calls where we all bundle round sue's house for coffee and still count the time) the sister whose been studying with them was a sooper -uber pioneer sister with a hard-line and total society view on everything.

sue's husband keith has always been polite and interested in what his wife was learning but he loved his beer, fags and christmas too much to take it seriously.. finally a few months ago susan caves in to the pressure from uber-sister christine and wants to get baptized.

My wife played the "endangerment card" I think it was an early trial balloon case... someone in Brooklyn wanted to see how far this could go. I had to call my Uncle to see what that was all about in 2002-3 when it happened. He researched what the WT had on file to that date... and his take was that "spritual endangerment" did no apply in our situation. I read what he sent me and came to the same conclusion

Ex vanished for over 6 weeks. Pals were hiding her and denied any knowlege of were she was at. People I never met sent letters to her lawyer for a Protective order against me (quickly over turned by my counsel).

I even had several hours of phone converstation with a local elder who thought the whole notion was a scam... but was not willing to pursue the situation on my behalf. I was also "denied" a face to face with the Circuit Over-furher to discuss the situation.

At least 15 people from her Congregation tried to clean the house out while I was home. That required Police intervention to make them leave. That incident did not go well with the Judge when it was discussed in Chambers. A letter was produced from a "freind" that noted my "observed" threats and abuse. That person was un willing to be sworn and testify... so that lie was quickly put to rest by the Judge. The elders, however, did not care to read transcripts when offered about the falsehoods a member were willing to offer against me.

This woman walked away from 17 years and left a child at home. She finally admited that "she just did not want to be married anymore" and is still in good (somewhat restricted... she cannot Pioneer, whippee!) standing at her KH. I think they did not let her comment at meetings for a few weeks too.

Living well is the best revenge... God Bless you and hang in there... it gets worse before it gets better.

Strange cult that could be a clone of the WTS from the 1920's?

as strange and odd as this controlling cult is, it almost describes to a 't' the wts lead by judge rutherford from the 1920's.

the wts back then, that the now jw's do not want anyone to know about.. doomsday group?

Try the "House of David". They were a Messianic Cult that centered their membership in the Benton Harbor MI area and were at a peak during the 20's and 30's.

The House members were celibate for the most part... and died out. There are still a few very old members and a few converts (who are pretty old to) still associated with the faction in the Benton Harbor area. The men were know for long hair and beards... LONG HAIR AND LONG BEARDS... the cult members were vegetarians.

The House had a touring Pro baseball team, a big band, ran one of the first sucessful theme parks in the USA and ran large holding of timber and farm land to produce income. The original group was a Husband wife tag team... they has a division at some point and Mary took over a large segment of the holdings as a separate entity.

When Purcell died they kept his body in a glass coffin in the middle of the complex for several years. I don't know if they ever buried it. That part of the compound was near the Amusment Park and Beer Garden .., and those venues closed up in the mid 1960's.

Walts kids and grandkids are dead ringers for the whiney assed entilted people who were fed by the Auto-Steel-Industrial juggernaugt of the 50's and 70's then let it slip through their fingers.

Walt... I bet I know a 1000 hard assed guys like him. Nose to the wheel and you die at the end. Never asked for much and gave way more than they were payed back for. Men like that are what this country was built on.

I'd have left a bag of stale chips for my grandkids... and less to my son's if they were anything like those represented in the script.

Over all.... 2 thumbs up as a film... 10 stars as an American story. If you didnt learn something from this about integrity you were not paying attention.
