Hey, little Caleb is back! He's a recurring character--see pages 23 and 24! He's like the Andre of kids! He's everywhere! I take that to mean that Caleb and his family will return for the next DVD release. I'm excited already!

new august public wt is online.. the first article addresses miracles and tries to refute common objections if miracles are possible.
i won't bore you with the details, please see for yourself the blatant disregard of science, documented events, etc...however, in conclusion the article states:.
pg.6: "...so, then, are there such things as miracles?.

Garrett Losch of the GB gave a Gilead graduation talk as reported on p. 28:
He listed five
ways by which we know we have the truth:
(1)We remain in Jesus’ teaching, (2) we love
one another, (3) we adhere to God’s high
moral standards, (4) we remain neutral in
the controversies of this world, and (5) we
are God’s name people.
(1) Nope. Got your own good news, 1914. It's just downhill from there.
(2) NO! You're only as loving as the Society allows you to be. When the chips are down, these so-called true Christians? They'll eat each other.
(3) You make up your own rules, and then say they're God's rules. No.
(4) Neutral unless library books are involved.
(5) So was Israel, and look how that turned out. The name proves absolutely nothing--I'm not even sure how that is admissible evidence at all. I mean, the preaching work would've been a more logical choice than that!

How about this one on page 12? An experience from a man raised Catholic:
After extensively investigating the subject, I was
convinced that our salvation comes from Jehovah
through Jesus. We had been led to believe
that our salvation came from the priests.
Wow! Imagine that, huh? Salvation coming from a bunch of priests instead of through Jesus! So obviously he takes up studying with the Witnesses...and I suppose he learns that salvation comes from a different set of future priests instead of through Jesus...but joins up anyway.

They use airplane travel, video conferencing, heart transplants and and iPods as examples of things that humans have accomplished in the last few decades, so of course God can perform mighty acts!
Hey, that's great! It's just like 'The Harp of God' reasoning. They're going old-school.
I think the cute sister on page 3 obliterates the need for logic. But then, my hormones are a bit wacky these days...
Anyway, hormones aside, page 8:
If a surgeon was scheduled to perform a
complicated procedure on you, how
would you feel if you found out that
he had never performed this type of
surgery? No doubt you would be concerned.
But what if, on the other hand,
you found out that this doctor was the
leading surgeon in his field and that he
had performed hundreds of successful
operations like the one you were about
to have? Would you not have much
more confidence that he could help
you?
The sick world in which we find ourselves
today needs drastic “surgery.”
Through his Word, the Bible, Jehovah
God has promised that he will restore
Paradise to this earth. (2 Peter 3:13)
But for that to happen, wickedness will
first have to be removed, completely cut
away.
So...we should be comforted by the fact that Jehovah is an expert--no, the LEAD expert--in mass killings, having EXTENSIVE experience in wiping out huge swaths of mankind. So I'm definitely excited that the divine latex gloves are being prepped as we speak.
Is he also good at frontal lobotomies? Or is that after the whole extermination of 6.9 billion people?

you know, by arthur miller?
well, it's a big deal for me because when i was in school i was assigned to read it, and my mom put a stop to it, going so far as to write a note to the teacher explaining that i couldn't read it because it had witchcraft in it.
there was a bit of back and forth with the teacher over that.
Of course, I didn't read 'The Crucible' as actual history, since the introduction to the book said details were changed (like Abigail's age and all that). I'm just saying it was good drama and really spoke to me. I mean, of course something similar did actually happen in history, so I think of it as being a sort of 'historical fiction'.
Oh, and as I was thinking it over, it occurred to me that I might've sounded a little self-pitying there, in relating it to my own experiences with the judicial committee. Poor judgment on my part. It was 2 years ago, after all. It's over now, even though the fallout has reached into today and on into our future. But it's over. I mean, looking at it from her point of view, it was probably a very painful situation. She may even have hoped I would change my mind and that the elders, being presumably better equipped to teach and correct, might actually help 'readjust' me. And then to be sitting at these meetings by herself all over again which defeated the whole purpose of marrying a JW. I mean, that's got to be pretty sad to deal with. The looks, the whispers, all of that. It was entirely selfish, everything I did back then. I had good intentions but didn't know what I was doing and didn't think too hard about how much unnecessary pain I would create for us.
I don't really like to discuss all that here on JWN anymore, though, so I better stop there.
But it's amazing how many stories of this sort or with these kinds of themes are out there. I guess the problems presented in 'The Crucible' are just very real, human issues that extend through the ages. We can only hope that as a species, we are taking some significant steps towards a bit more enlightenment and freedom. Probably won't be a 'Star Trek' kind of world in our lifetime, hey, maybe it'll never happen. But there's always hope.

hi guys,.
i call myself a lurker, but it's really been a short time since i've known about this site...it's only been five days.
i discovered this site while doing personal research on the topics of porneia, oral sex, and mutual masturbation, and found a thread on this site about it.
Hello there. Sounds like the wheels are already turning. Just know that this is a one-way trip. There's no going back once you know too much. It's going to hurt quite a lot at first, but it does get better with time.
Your first priority now is the containment of information. You must not tell anyone you know about what you are doing right now. TRUST NO ONE. They WILL turn you in, no matter how much you think you can trust them. Trust no one. You need to know what you're doing before you'll be ready to engage any Witnesses on all this, should you choose to do so.
Secondly, you need to get independent as soon as possible--if you're not on your own yet, move out as soon as you've got the resources for it. (Not necessarily a rush, but it'll help you along if you do that.)
Thirdly, stay away from women, JW or not. This is the most important priority other than the containment of information. You're making a decision right now that will put you at odds with every individual in the organization. Don't be deceived by their charm or their looks or their false words. They will betray you, they will sell you out, you cannot and must not trust them. This is to be taken with the utmost of seriousness.
Last bit of advice, read, read, read. Use your Watchtower Library CD-ROM to verify and do your homework on whatever you learn. Your greatest ally will be knowledge. The more you understand about what is going on, the better equipped you will be if or when you are discovered. The fear drilled into us makes it hard to believe that we're not fooling ourselves about all this stuff. There is no harm in investigating and double-checking. As a June 2000 Awake! once said, "Good educators present both sides of an argument and encourage questions." Or something like that.
Well, keep us posted if you can. And...do be careful.

Yes, NewChapter--I read about that in the introduction to the book. Fascinating.

some people are mad with the production of the latest wt dvd for children... i am quite happy with it .
with the creation of that character the wt has created a big paradox that they cant refute as old light since its new.. lets look at the following scenarios:.
not according to the dvd therefore they have to trash the wt dvd.
Is this one of those arguments that makes Landru explode on 'Star Trek'? 'Cause it sounds like it.

Right. The once-a-month meeting attendance is on the same level as 'low-hour publisher' in a JW mind. Good point, there.

my daughter is unbaptized but is recognized as jw since she goes out door to door.
a baptized brother in high standing took some interest in her (staring, flirting, hanging about, hugging while intoxicated then keeping his distance before going back again and then withdrawing again ) and she ended up getting emotionally attached to this jerk & let him know.
in between long drawn out silences he turned her down, saying "i don't know you" though he'd had long conversations with her (though would ignore her the following day after they had any close alone time) she said "all the jw stuff aside, did you ever like me as well?
Wow, nugget--I think that's dead-on. I remember those same conflicts over dating issues myself. How sad it is that the most important human relationship one can have has to attempt to establish itself within this sort of framework. You spend your entire courtship seeing your potential mate as a problem and a temptation. How do you turn that into a normal, healthy relationship after you get married? Even after my awakening I still had (and still have) guilt and phobias regarding all that.
So yeah, this is just a recipe for trouble. He's not ready to deal with his feelings and maybe never will be so long as he's in the WT's grip. 'Get out now' would be good advice for the youngster in this situation.
