Loyalty Questions in Judicial Hearings

i've seen several posts on various threads about a particular "loyalty question" or two that elders ask during judicial hearings.

granted it's been several years since i was an elder, but i never heard of this practice.

is there anything officially in print on this from the wt?

As a doormat, I have a long memory, as all the crap of many feet is collected on me. That said, I can recall being asked this 'loyalty question' in my judicial committee. I saw no point in lying about it. I mean, what more proof does one need in the face of multiple false prophecies, flip-flops on teachings that have resulted in death, divorce and dismay for thousands, and a clear lack of respect for Bible verses in their original context? It's not God's organization, and that term doesn't exist in scripture just because people were organized. 'Organization' is a business term, not a Biblical term, and it was coined for usage by someone who lived very well as a result of coining the term and abusing his position of authority over the sheep.

The fact that it is being asked consistently in every committee involving people who have doubts indicates that this is a standard directive that has been given to elders to use, whether it was given to them in print or not. The testimony of so many just eliminates my need to see it in print.

I'm only a doormat, but it could be that avoiding the mention of the 'faithful slave' is an effective way of getting the people to stop thinking about it for awhile, thus paving the road for the rumored change in the doctrine. However, it is unlikely they could go through several issues without patting themselves on the back or reminding others to not scratch their nose without doing careful research 'in Bible-based publications provided by the slave'.

But the ultimate mind-frak? That many people on this site are more avid readers of The Watchtower than the people who are supposed to be avid readers of The Watchtower.

Glad to hear you're happy. I am not so optimistic about women, and I would say that self-exploration is a more urgent and enriching pursuit, but then I'm just a doormat, so best not to listen to me.

I can see the attraction, though--meeting a woman named Mia would be kind of an instant turn-on. (You know, for human males, not doormats.) I don't know what it is about the name. Well, if it helps with your transition and if she doesn't interfere with your freedoms, why the heck not? I hope it turns out to be educational and...uplifting?

Wow. This means that whatever is decided, WT HQ is assuming direct involvement now and direct responsibility for whatever goes wrong. I would say they will have even less wiggle room if something should go wrong in such a scenario. But they are asking for more intense scrutiny/involvement with local matters.

Interesting that they recommend an experienced elder from the circuit to be chairman of a committee under some circumstances. Kind of an admission of how inadequately prepared a lot of the elders are for this stuff. Well, I hope this ends up opening the doors for more direct legal liability for the Society.

sd-7 - Do you realize everything they say is taken out of context and the entire faithful slave reasoning, and even that all the early churches were united or directed through Jerusalem is a complete lie???

Well of course I realize that, and the opening part of Galatians is exactly why. Just the fact that they never seem to talk about DF'ing people over the circumcision issue is an indication that they didn't operate anything like the Governing Body of JWs does. (Not to mention the need for printing presses to manage all the letters and paperwork the GB would have required....)

Well, the reasoning I can recall is, it's the same as in the first century--even though everyone back then was 'anointed', that didn't mean they all had a say in doctrinal matters; only the apostles and older men in Jerusalem had a say. They'd reference Acts 16:4, is it? The letter being sent out from the council in Jerusalem? They'd say, hence, the GB has the authority to 'represent' the 'slave' today. But if they are flat out saying that the faithful slave represents ONLY the Governing Body, they are basically saying that there are no more anointed except they themselves. This would eliminate the need to even mention other anointed, take the statistics of Memorial partakers off the Yearbook, and that's the end of that. They could conceivably do this and have it work. Interesting.
