  A farce elder here

  just to share a little about me:.

  i was recently appointed an elder, about 6 months ago now, and that is exactly two years after my awakenning, but funny that the appointment came also about 2 years after i had completely lost all faith in god and had been leading a full time anti-jw life .

  makes you wonder the role of the holy spirit in the entire nomination or appointment process.. .

  Wait, so is this like, somebody who realizes slavery is wrong and then proceeds to be the most sadistic overseer on the plantation in the hopes that it will drive as many slaves as possible to try to escape? And then be the hangman waiting for when they're caught?

  Wow. Well, it could work, but it really does enter a pretty morally dark gray area. How many people will suffer and remain on the inside with their suffering because of it?

  Look, I'm the last person who can make a judgment on this guy. Look what I did to my wife, the woman I supposedly loved. If I'd been a decent guy, I'd have let her go and moved on with life instead of involving her in my departure from the JWs. Instead, I hurt her, and I have to live with that.

  When people find out TTATT, they're faced with some hard moral choices. Maybe we shouldn't be so quick to hate this guy. He's going to be an indecent man in an indecent world. It was men like him that helped me see something was wrong. And they'll hate him for it, as I hated men like that. But maybe, maybe, they'll start to understand that it's not just him, not just one elder, but the entity as a whole that's just like it, that props up and rewards people like him.

  I couldn't and wouldn't support that sort of thing. But I think I do understand his point.

  Many of the responses on the site are verbatim quotes from Watchtower literature. It's as if they just cut and paste straight out of an article or the 'Keep Yourselves in God's Love' book. I think it's interesting to see so many of them blame the person being shunned--one person going so far as to say that the DF'd person is actually shunning JWs! Ha! Now that's delusional. What they do clearly goes above and beyond treating the former member as if he's a person of the nations, since JWs would still do business with and greet non-JWs. So they may as well not bother referencing 1 Corinthians 5 in the matter.

  I tried responding to it, but for some reason it doesn't seem to have gone through. But I think enough informed people have posted thoughts on there. I hope.

  In part, my wife put some of my old books on her bookshelf (the 'Proclaimers' book is one I've picked up to flip through from time to time). I still have my 'Organized' book, 'Reasoning' book, and some others. I had this moment when I was cleaning out my closet recently and found some of the old books. I got rid of old magazines but...the books I just found myself unable to throw out. I couldn't part with them for some reason.

  If I had to come up with a reason, it'd be...because it was a part of my life. My mom got baptized when I was 2, and I finally got out of it officially a few months before I turned 28. I'm 31 now, four years later. That's just about my entire life, contained in those books. My history. I don't want to see it every day, and I probably don't even want to read it again, most of the time, unless it's for some specific reference about an issue that comes to mind. I just...feel like it should be there. It made me sad to think of throwing them away. I guess it's a lot like that time awhile back when I went to a meeting just to watch the kids while my wife gave a talk. There was that sadness, like visiting the grave of an old friend I was forced to destroy. As long as they're there, they serve as a reminder of the weight of sacrifice. Of the cost of having to do the right thing, even when those I loved most would never believe in me or in the rightness of my path. The price of ending a war that had already cost too much and was started for all the wrong reasons.

  I can't avoid JW books without divorcing my wife, anyway. So what's the point? Maybe if that day ever comes and our marriage does actually end, maybe then I'll get rid of the remaining books. I suppose I'm still tethered to it all, so it would be a vain gesture.

  I just want to mention that the sign "Read God's Word The Holy Bible Daily" was on the 117 Adams Street building, Sands Street side and it was painted over along with the other signs on the Adams Street complex because the society sold it. The name JW.ORG was not painted on it.

  Well, that clears it up considerably. It would be kind of weird otherwise.

  who was in any doubt that our jw believe is a marketing model, see this pictures of the still existing hq of jw at columbia heights.. earlier comments on jwn that something is going to change in the organisation, these comments are true.. in a few years we will not talk about the watchtower society, we wil talk about jw.org.

  i think the current leadership will make a transfer to a new start.

  Man, am I late to this party. I don't know how I missed this one. Must've been on sabbatical from this site for awhile. Well. That makes it all make so much more sense. If there's one thing that symbolizes GB 2.0 in full, it's this whole change in the setup right here.

  Remember, how "Read the Bible Daily" were the words found at the the top of one of one of the factory buildings only to be painted over and replaced with jw.org.

  Seriously?? That's news to me. Wow. I guess it could be argued that jw.org does have a Bible [of sorts] on the site, but...one would think that words like 'Read the Bible Daily' would be pretty immutable based on the supposed 'preaching the good news' thing and all... At most one would think they could just add jw.org somewhere below it or something...huh. Was there a thread about this when it happened? I shall have to look into it.

  This article seems to remind me an awful lot of the outlandish sort of interpretations found in 'The Finished Mystery'. Taking a simple Psalm and attributing all these meanings that are nowhere implied in this chapter is par for the course for the WT.

  There's an interesting thinly veiled threat in this article. It sounds like they're implying that yeah, we, the authors of this article, will kill you if you do not obey us, and Jesus is going to give us the authority to do so. It says it right here in the Bible. You just wait till we get up to heaven. You'll see.

  The Warrior-King does not wage a war of conquest in order to occupy territories and subjugate peoples. He wages a righteous war with noble objectives. He rides “in the cause of truth and humility and righteousness.”

  Actually...he...kinda does wage a war of conquest in order to occupy territories and subjugate peoples. Did you...miss your own article?

  That was only the beginning of the King’s victorious ride. He must yet “complete his conquest.”

  "Conquest." That's what it says, paragraph 10, right? So it is a war of conquest. Did they have two different people writing this article?

  The carnage will be earth wide. Jeremiah’s prophecy foretells: “Those slain by Jehovah in that day will be from one end of the earth clear to the other end of the earth.”

  Yeah, so the people will be pretty darn subjugated, especially with most of them dead. So yeah, it's a war of conquest to permanently occupy the Earth and subjugate its people eternally to his dad's rulership. So...if you're trying to contrast a war of conquest, occupation of territory, and subjugation of people with a righteous war that has noble objectives, you just totally failed, because...it's pretty clear that what you're saying is that a war of conquest, occupation and subjugation is the same thing as a righteous war with noble objectives.

  So that's kind of interesting, actually. Unusual, but interesting.

  Our speaker used the illustration of a man getting strapped into the electric chair.. They have got the helmet on you, ready to flip the switch and here comes Jesus kicking down the door, takes you out of the chair, gets in himself and takes the punishment. That is what Jesus has done for us.

  LOL! Seriously?

  Our speaker kept mentioning that when Jesus said "this is my body/blood" he wasn't being literal like "some churches teach" like up until now, no one knew
