I like all the holidays, except Easter. I don't believe Jesus was gods son, but as a man, her was still killed. I can't reconsile that with Easter eggs and Bunnys. No idea why, I enjoy all the other holidays, including bonfire night (UK 5th Nov) when we celebrate burning a man alive and still put a figure of guy faulks on top of the bonfire. Can't quite figure what my problem is with Easter.

After leaving the Faith, do you celebrate all of the Holidays?
by Quarterback ini could never understand how some who don't follow some of the moral restrictions in the jw faith, are strong against celebrating the .
religious holidays such as christmas, and easter etc.. do you celebrate the holidays knowing some of their origins?.

I was born in JW but never baptised. Now I fluctuate, after hearing one convincing arguement I may be athiest, sometimes I think there must be something greater out there. So I guess that describes an agnostic? Thats the great thing about having a free mind - I can change my mind as many times as I wish, no one judges.

Jehovah's witness meetings are NOT BORING......
by punkofnice in...i was told but they usually were as i look back.. as a lad i'd sit and look to see who the lights would fall on.
i'd get an almond and see how long i could suck it before i chewed at it.
i'd imagine playing rock'n'roll on the congregation's piano.. how did you get through the meetings when you were bored?.

Not this year, I put on my face book "Faith is not a Virtue, Faith is a Gullibility. I am an athiest". It seems to have worked, it is the 1st time in 15 years I have not been asked. I have never attended although the family usually beg me. Whats the point?

PBS Program- Secrets of the Bible- Old Testament
by Band on the Run innova produced a program on the history of the bible with many archaeologists concerning what excavations in israwl and the middle east have revealed concerning the bible.
i've read most of the revelations before in the new york times and other places.
the watchtower bible and tract society could not hold a candle to the experts interviewed.

There are lots of forms of Aspergers. My brother is a compulsive lyer, but he is brilliant at it, very convincing but also very dangerous as people take him seriously. He got my dad beaten up so badly, he lost sight in one eye.
You notice my brother as different straight away. He is completly in his own world. He also plays whole episodes of star gate in his mind, even laughing and flintching as one would experience watching the episode on TV.
In Aspergers and Autism, the brain function and pattern brain reaction is quite different to someone whio is just reclusive or socially uncomfortable.
I think there can be a danger of labelling too widely. But still there maybe a genuine medical issue. Arte

Insulting Terms used by the WashTowel
by punkofnice inloading the language is a propogandist tactic to trigger a reaction in the mind.
a prime example is the word 'apostate'!.
i have been called 'spiritually weak' for quitting field service, meetings etc.. how would you respond (without swearing or giving a punch up the hooter), if you were called this?.

I was never baptised so they can't get me on scriptual ground. But I'm constantly considered imorral because I live with my long term partner rather than being married. We don't drink, smoke, commit crimes, sleep around or do anything that would be considered imorral my any normal human beings, but that is how we are looked upon, dirty fornicators.

I don't have a problem with "new light". It is only natual for any religion to change and develop. Like most people what I have a problem with is not being able to disagree with the spoon fed crap that inevitably changes once they realise it was wrong. Being disfellowshiped because you think that the flood was probably only localised, and not global? Or being disfellowshiped because perhaps 144,000 was symbolic and not literal? Being disfellowshiped because you don't agree that 10 blokes in Brooklyn are Gods only channel. Please!! It's a joke.

"Look it wasn't a global flood.."
by Qcmbr ini've heard the statement from bible apologists so many times that the global flood story of genesis was not a global flood but was probably a local flood.
this seems problematic.. this directly disagrees with the bible.
everywhere the bible internally references a global flood of worldwide scale (i'll throw in matthew 24:39 as a nt example and genesis 6:17 as a ot example.

I am retyping that last statement due to my terrible typing errors.
For people that believe in global flood. One thought.. saltwater sea life and fresh water sea life don't mix. Upsetting the delicate ecosystem would mean most sea sea life would have died out. Or were they taken on the ark also? it would have been a very big boat!
Additional thought: Whales are included in my comment on sea life. What about the whales?
