i have not commented for a while, but i found this really interesting.

im in the uk, and atheists are becoming more outspoke in their (lack of) beliefs.. you may find this article interesting.

it is bbc so a reliable source.. what happens at an atheist church?

Birthday V Anniversary -I don't send JW family an Anniversary card

when i was growing up in a jw family, i always resented the fact that i had to save up my hard earned pocket money to buy my parents a wedding anniversary gifts, when we, as kids, never, ever had a special day.

i don't mean the usual, not celebrating birthdays or christmas, but we had no special day at all.

we didn't lack for toys, but that idea of looking forward to a certain day and have a wrapped gift, is something i don't ever remember experiencing as a kid/teenager.. forward fast to 16 and leaving home, i decided i didn't want to celebrate anniversaries.

JW charity status within the UK, has anyone ever petitioned the charity commission (following on a comment re Diseased mind/ Independent article)

i am not a regular poster, but i like to read discussions.

i'm picking up a comment in the other post regarding the millions jw organisation claims from tax payer in gift aid, and the recent independent article saying that a complaint has been submitted to the charity commission.. in times of austerity, the government is searching every corner in order to find cut backs.

it seems an appropriate time to petition local mps to remove charity status from non-deserving organisations.. i am a very laze ex-jw, and rarely get worked up about anything, but this opportunity seems too good to miss.

it is my opinion everyone has the choice to follow jw path if they choose.

what angers me is that half the time, people don't realise what they are getting themselves into.

my work college had been studying for quite a while.

i have only resently come across his german loanword, but it has become my new favourite word.

we don't have an english equvalent, but it sums up so joyously what i feel everytime i hear some misfortune regarding jw organisation.. am i bitter & twisted???

Finding it hard to tell family I don't believe in bible or God

i was raised a witness, never baptised.

in my teens i told my family, i believe in god and the bible.

but i don't believe in armageddon or that jws are the only ones that would survive it.

i am fairly new on here.

i grew up as a jw but never got baptised.

i have distanced myself from jw teachings for at least 10 years.. recently i was reading dawkins "the god delusion".

JW hijacked sisters my wedding

just a few months ago my little jw sister got married at 19. i remember how excited she was when she started planning the wedding.

both she and her partner made it clear that there were lots of none jw's present (myself included) so it was not to be a "theocratic" event.

none of those stupid plays or performances.
