So is the Son of God Jesus? And is Jesus the Word? And is the Word a "God" or a "god"? What is Coptic Translation? What other Translations could there be?

John 1:1 in Coptic Translation
by slimboyfat inapparently there has been quite a stir in jw apologetic circles recently about the translation of john 1:1 in the early sahidic version of john.
i don't know if this has been discussed here before - if someone could give a link to a previous thread they know about on the subject that would be great.
here is what i gather: .

This threads don't close out but if you need to you can just stay anonymous by not posting names or places ever. I'm not going to try and encourage sneaking behind your parents (cause like I said earlier I'm a parent and I'd be sad if my kids felt they had to hide things from me) but you can be silent and avoid bring this site up to them until they approach you about it. Then be honest... tell them yes I was on this site. Limit your words and pray to God for the right words!

I'm a mom and I to agree with wasblind. Your parents are just trying to do whats right and protect you (it's our job ha joking a bet, even though sometimes we want to be the cool and easy going we feel it will set up are kiddos for a good future). If you are not ready to get baptised then DONT GET BAPTISED that is a personal decision, your parents should respect you on that one!
Point out if you want me to respect you and obey your rules please respect my personal relationship with God.
And to you, personally, I think your awesome to keep your discovery open and learning, understand, what is the right thing to do in life... because of that you can BE and DO great things!
You will not get disfellowshiped because you are not baptised but you can be silently marked (I don't think they use this term anymore) in the hall. You only get into trouble... if you make trouble though.... they will talk to your parents and guilt them into disaplining you.
And ONE HUGH SUGGESTION!!! DONT TRY TO GET YOUR FAMILY OUT OF THE CULT... lay low and hold tight... you know the truth you need a plan and in the future when you don't have quesions yourself THEN ONLY THEN you can use your plan of action.

WT SHUNNING POLICY: What has it done, or could it do to you?
by flipper inhi y'all, this is mrs. flipper.
please share your experiences with this, or possible consequences of being outed.. this recent controversy and resulting arguments all stem from people being outed - possibly losing friends and family because most jw's will blindly follow the watchtower's rules to shun them.. among people i know and experiences read here, the grief and loss caused by this is terrible, and maybe now is a good time to put up some experiences here, and put the focus on the worst villians of all - wt policymakers..

I feel like shunning is horrible always have... but I remember when I did it myself so going though this was good for me... I never want my kids to experience any of it! They will know true love.

Memorial Day.... still struggling with the idea of war and support
by Butterflyleia85 inso i do respect and am very greatful for the sacrifies those who dedicated their family, lives, etc.
to defend our freedom, lives, and land, but if we lived in a world where we lived as monks or jehovah's witnesses (basicly just the practise of no war).... would that be wrong?.
what's a good lesson or level of reasoning when supporting the idea of war?.

Thank you for your comments... yes I feel the same way humbled but I'm also in agreement with Lisa... still struggle. My stand is still null.
