Did you ever feel being a JW was like ...
by sacolton inhaving a license to be a complete douchebag to others?
it did for me.
i could automatically judge and condemn those who i didn't know and feel superior towards "worldly" people.. .

dgp, they have to be open to allow it. Justifying it in their mind. My mom always had friends that were "worldly" She felt much compassion for them. It seriously depends on the person!

Welcome! And aww yeah I understand my mom, grandma, and sister is in. I'm still working on them too. But I'm not trying to scare them away... (sigh) it's kinda just hard for me to explain to them stuff, when they are cautioned not to look at what they are told is evil.

Used JW reasoning to find the 'truth' about them...
by Butterflyleia85 inremember that article the jehovah's witnesses had on the website... well i copied it into my word document as keep sake to remind me to be careful!
it was called "do not be a victim of propaganda!".
i felt it was very important and so true regardless who you were.

Thanks for your comment, Flipper! It's encouraging to know people agree. It also helps me decide if I'm in the wrong or not. I enjoy verity of opinions... I am glad I got over my fear of being mislead... we have brains and we need to use it, not listen to just one source (Jehovah Witness's or Society's Articles)
Even if I get a 'agree' or 'disagree' comment is helpful but if you happen to have time explaining even more helpful. (to Lurkers and Posters) Thanks bunches for even reading my posts!

Did you Exit the Witnesses Gradually - Or Exit Suddenly - Your Reasons ?
by flipper ini thought it would be good to discuss it to understand what caused some of us to exit suddenly, or some to exit gradually .. myself , i had been in 44 years , had mentally had doubts for years before exiting - but injustices by the elders and my doubts about the " generation " doctrine led me to exit suddenly one night before a meeting.
the elders pissed me off , i went to my seat, picked my books up and walked out - never going back.
so what is your story and reasons ?

I'm with White Dove on that one. I started out as a DF for committing a sin and wanted and needed help with my guilt and "going back" at the time. Now after doing my research wow lets back up here... It was interesting but freeing that wow I was being brain washed sota speak. I gathered enough evidance that now I don't want to go back... I'm still researching every detail in thinking and my way of belief.

Remember that article the Jehovah's Witnesses had on the website... Well I copied it into my Word Document as keep sake to remind me to be careful! It was called "Do not be a victim of propaganda!". I felt it was very important and so true regardless who you were. I also recall learning in my 2 year community college that you are suppost to have many sources to back up your statements if you are trying to plead your case. Really on here sence it takes alot of work and time, and this site is really just a hobby for me, or a way to help me do self-help for personal struggles conserning the Jehovah Witnesses, I honestly can't post all the sources I look at or prove all the research I done. It just to time consuming and I'm sorry if that's kinda selfish but I do what I can. I have to do this more for my family and my fiance. I want us to live at peace and happily. My fiance already thinks I spend to much time on this thing. lol
Anyways here is the titles under the article...
Be Selective:
I was I made sure I realized some can be speaking out of anger and hate. Thus they can take alot of things out of context.
Use Discernment:
I used good judgement. My reputation has been tarnished a bet but I have checked out the other sources history or background to see where they stand.
Put information to the test:
I did I looked everything up from verity of sources to make sure it was true.
Ask questions:
Yelp I did alot of that too!
Do not just follow the crowd:
Yes 'power of suggestion' is strong and also feeling ones pain can be misleading. I understand that. I also understand when you are on one side, and there is peer preasure... one can influeance you to believe a certain way. That is why it is always good to know a person's intentions or who is leading their thinking making sure they are trustworthy!
True Knowledge versus Propaganda
These part of the article is true I feel, the Bible is the source of Truth. But I also feel strongly it can be interpeted differently... backing the person's claims. It's as a group they collectively organize and have their followers agreeing. But do the look always look at other sources or are they swaid by one way of thinking?...
Work of Jehovah's Witnesses Propagandistic...
If you read this part they say they are none of the above... the above part was of critics accusing them of spreading propaganda. But notice they give no sources to their clam. They just make their claim themselves.
(Again I did not give the full article just the titles and my comments under each.) All comments are welcomed...

Sorry but honestly no and that is another reason why some Witnesses tick me off. My grandma I think has a taste of this... she can be rude sometimes and when my 'worldly friends' came over, my gandma would say some pretty embarassing things. "Is that snot in you nose...oh no it's your ring... it looks grows" I drop my head {sigh} shaking "Geez grandma!" Grandma says "Well that's worldly and they are worldly friends"... Thats just one example of many, some comments are worse but I don't want to give a bad impression of my Grandma, she can be so dear and loving too (only if your not "worldly" but nonJW family she's does ok, I think it's cause she wants to convert them into a Witness)

Researchers tell us that we think 400 words per minute and speak about 125 words per minute. What those figures don't reveal is how many of those words are positive and how many are negative.
All people can use the strength and power of positive words to enhance their lives. Positive words can be particularly helpful when we are trying to adopt a healthy lifestyle. Most people are not aware of the things they think and say on a continual basis. Our thoughts and words have a powerful impact on our attitude and behaviors.
Negative thinking can become so deeply ingrained in a person's mind that these thoughts will begin to take over. The fact is that most people are feeding their minds with toxic thoughts throughout the day, even as they are fighting off the negative behaviors these thoughts promote.
The Journal of the American Dietetic Association reports that people tend to eat an average of 118 calories more per day when they are moderately depressed or anxious. If this impulsive eating continues, this amount of additional calories is enough to put on an extra 12 pounds a year! To prevent this from taking place, you must first become aware of the words and thoughts that run through your mind every day.
This means you must make a conscious effort to examine your thoughts and words. This is not an easy task! It takes concentration and determination to be cognizant of what you are thinking and saying, especially when you are not in the mood.
What can you do to change the direction of your life? There are some things that you can do on a daily basis that will make your words and thoughts more positive. The more you do these exercises, the easier it will be to make positive behaviors a permanent part of your life. Consistency and repetition will help make your lifestyle changes permanent.
1. When you wake up in the morning (and before you go to bed), write a list of 10 positive things about yourself. In the beginning, it may be difficult to complete this list. The more you do the exercise, the easier the process will get. If possible, list different positive things each time.
2. Establish a secret signal to yourself each time that you catch yourself saying or thinking something negative. Some examples could be snapping a rubber band, putting away your money or rubbing your knee. Do anything that will act as a wake-up call to stop the negative behavior.
3. Ask a trustworthy friend or relative to listen to you speak. Ask them to be honest with you whenever they hear you say something negative. Carry around a small tape recorder and tape yourself, so you can listen to what you say. Also, write down your thoughts and reread what you have written to see if you are being negative. Give yourself a reality check!
4. Learn how to breathe. Breathe from your stomach and exhale through your nose. Deep breathing helps to put energy and oxygen back into your system. When you are breathing, think positive thoughts. Create a mantra that works for you and repeat it while you are breathing. Here's one example: "I am a bountiful, beautiful person. I am healthy and full of positive energy."
The more you work on establishing positive thoughts, the healthier you will become. Imagine you can control your destiny by living your life in a happy and healthy manner. Consistency and repetition will make your lifestyle changes permanent.
