  One night while I was an attendant, (shortly after I "woke up"), I took down this disgusting thing from our information board, ripped it up and threw it away. Then I dumped gasoline into the barrel and lit it on fire. I proceeded to urinate on the fire so no one would smell the smoke... ok, ok...I kidd, but I really did throw it away so no one would be stumbled by it...in my eyes.

  Lukemia Witness dies due to lack of blood.....the horrific sad story.

  the nicest 41 year old brother i have ever met in my life, kind and helpful to all, goes for a routine blood test and finds he has lukemia.

  everyone was in shock, he of course refused all blood products advised by doctors.

  his blood cell count dropped dramatically and he began to suffer alot.

  This reminds me of my own situation, I was in my teens at the time. I too refused blood for fear of being disfellowshipped. Now, that threat of excommunication no longer scares me and I am finally living a happy life, not one of fear and control.

  Everyone that is still "in" should look at themselves in the mirror, evaluate your happiness. Is it real?

  Do you refuse blood because you don't want to upset God? If so, that is the wrong reason, since the Org takes the place of God and Christ. My view is that the blood doctrine was placed in the Bible simply because medicine at the time was unable to detect diseases or other complications of transfusing blood. I mean, we eat foods now that were condemned in the Bible at one time.

  and then, immediately after babylon the great is destroyed, almost without a break, look at matt 24 :29 -immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened and the moon will not give its light and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.. now in what sense will the sun be destroyed and the moon not give its light?

  The user name came from the feeling I felt serving. I was the go-to guy in our hall, the youngest of the appointed men, therefore the one that was supposed to do everything. I had so much piled on my plate and felt so overwhelmed working with brothers that didn't want to do their own easy tasks, so I got stuck doing everything.

  I would rather had been the Bathroom Servant for sure.... better than the other type of shit I'm dealing with.

  Some quick math for yearly earnings

  **this is not meant to be the definitive basis or way of calculating the society's earnings each year, but just an observation.. from my congregations accounts, i averaged the last six months of what is sent to the society just out of curiosity.

  that amount is approximately $620 per month.

  now, my congregation is located in what is known as a relatively poor town in the u.s. i understand that many congregations will give much more than this and many congregations will give much less.

For the sake of argument, let's assume that the figure listed above is approximately an average of what the Society receives per congregation.

  Multiplying that number by the 103,267 congregations worldwide.... $64,025,540 PER MONTH.

  Yearly that would be $768,306,480. And that is not including donations sent directly to the society or received at assemblies or conventions.

  Of course, again, this should not be looked at as a be all, end all number for seeing what they rake in just from a congregational stand point...

  And I'm sure someone could locate a financial earnings statement online somewhere, but I thought this would be at least an interesting perspective on things.

  Contribution of Franz books on your decision to leave?

  the recent resurrected topic on franz' books got me curious.. how much did his writing contribute to your decision to leave?.

  for myself, it was another brick in the wall but not more important than any other.

  i was a little different than most in that i regularly read anti-witness stuff from the very beginning and never stopped.

  I read CoC a few months ago which really confirmed a lot of feelings I had been having already, but also opened my eyes to some things I hadn't thought of. I just received (today actually, no lie) ISoCF and can't wait to read it. Seems a little heavier than the first book, but I'm all into it.

  Hikaru, I am not a spy. I have loved ones who are still apart of the Org, so leaving isn't an easy option. From what I've read, many people on the boards still go to meetings or serve as elders or servants because their family is still "in" even though they aren't.
