Standing up for myself, a lonely stand

i have learned in my life that i am the only one i can trust to stand up for myself .. many times i wished others would have 'had my back', like when i was seven and my favorite teacher committed wrongful contact with my class....we didn't know the term pedofile back then , and children were not taken serious when they made complaints about teachers .

i wished my mom had been more protective and saved me from some ugly situations .

i knew at 10 yrs of age that wasn't going to be the case .

I would be upset at that conversation as well TM, I completely see where you are coming from. I hope that with reflection, he's able to see that right now he's on the "hurting you" side of things, and not helping. Right or wrong, he shouldn't want to cause you distress.

can someone link me to it, i'd like to show my husband this evening.

Okay I just got back from the Police department

the officer was very understanding and helpful .

he said you would be surprised how many citizens they have come in and ask how to stop the jehovahs from coming to their doors .. .

i told him my whole story about leaving the jw's after 44 yrs and just wanting peace and freedom .

TM - good for you in taking something that is causing you much distress, and turning it into a step FORWARD for yourself, taking control back. You'll feel better having sent a letter (even better to have it sent from an attorneys office) and make sure to retain a copy and follow through on filing with the police.

Then, if they ever approach again, have a canned speech at the ready...even posted by the phone, a script if you will. I would suggest something like the following "I am not sure if you are aware, but I inform you now that you are in direct violation of a letter requesting no contact or harrassement. I will be forced to inform the police department, as is their request since they are an involved party from the date of the letter forward. Please keep this in mind when attempting future contact, by yourself or any member of the congregation, for you ARE a united brotherhood" and then hang up. Then do call the police and let them know they've made contact again!

So sorry you are having to deal with this. I'm also sorry I was ever part of those people that are making so many ones here so miserable. Sure there are activists, and those that LOVE the confrontation to stand up for what is wrong about the JWs, but far more there are those that are quiet and trying to rebuild a life, like you, and it's just so unfair.

That was a very interesting video, I enjoyed watching that. I couldn't help but ache for the children, the ones that were more privledged surely suffer from the high control, and the ones that were poor obviously suffer all kind of atrocities...one can't even imagine. Made me heartsick, but I was still glad to see it. Definitely perspective correcting.

I'm Seeing Facebook Updates About The Convention Today...

i'm starting to see facebook updates roll in about the convention today.

it's the first round of conventions in my state.

every time i see an update, i am so glad that i wasn't there to listen to all their bullsh**.

Its scheduled for my area this weekend as well. Never so glad to have missed it. My kids spent the day at the pool, I washed all my windows (funny ironic JW stigma moment) and plan to enjoy a cookout, more pool time, and visits with some EXJWs as well this weekend. Life is good.

Ray Franz has had a stroke

just setting the record straight.

there is another thread that notes a claim on wiki that said that ray has died.. he had a stroke yesterday, and is in the hospital.

he is still alive.

This is such sad news. I too was greatly relieved to read what I suspected to be true about the organization, and when I finished his book I realized that I was released from bonds that I wouldn't have otherwise been freed of. It's impossible to measure the goodness this man and his wife gave so lovingly and unselfishly. I'll be forever indebted.
