Yet one more thread on the new "generation".... Oh, Joy!

i know, i know... some of ya'll are gettin' sick of this "generation" thing... .

but for whatever reason, i had not seen this actual quote from the dc talk (that or had not paid much attention to it until now).

seeing it in print really brought home how desparate they are to try to hang on to 1914 in whatever way they can.

This is just the most asinine thing ever. The sad part is that most of those poor souls are going to lap that crap up at the DC this summer and thank God for the NEW LIGHT.....Even though the New Light makes about as much sense as building a mansion for Abraham and Moses when they return......oh wait, that happened.

I was just remembering how as a teenager I was scared to death in the late 80's waiting for Armageddon to hit since that "generation" was ready to end.

I cant believe they are rolling old Freddy out again for that talk - nice to know he is now part of my generation, even though my great-grandparents were born 10 years after he was!!!!

Change in distribution of Kool-aid issue of WT, get them like your KMs from your Service Groups Overseer

not only is there a change in the way the magazines for field service are distributed to publishers.. there's news of a change in distribution of the study issue of the wt.

from now on a publisher will.

get them like they get their kms, that is by having their service groups overseer hand deliver them.. another way to exercise control for control's sake and make the sgos busier and feeling more and.

my buddy and i were recalling some of the worst talks we ever heard.. one classic we remembered was one by a new c.o., who gave this talk on his first visit.. the guy was an arrogant tool, and he thought he was the voice of god.. we couldnt remember the title, but all we remember was a 30 minute rant against the phrase "take it easy".

we thought it was supposed to be talk encouraging pioneering, but it quickly took a turn for the worse....... "we often hear worldly people use the phrase "take it easy" - as christians, we do not take it easy!".

"we should never hear the phrase "take it easy" here at the kingdom hall".

Gomer tried to tell him that weren't relaxing, they were pooped, but Andy cut him off and said, "what Gomer's trying to say Reverend is, ... 'take it easy' ". The reverend saw then that he wasn't taking his own advice as he was rushing around.

Fun meeting with an elder

a few days ago an elder, old aquaintance of mine visited me (alone, which was my request - props for him for accepting my terms).

it was quite an interresting meeting.

this elder is quite intelligent, he is a professor at a local college.

"1 Cor 5:11 is a definite law how you should behave with such people" (actually he didn't mentioned the verse, he didn't even take out the Bible the whole time)

Ask him why the Greek translations use the same word for "not associating with" in the scripture the WT uses for "marking". Its the same word, why is one scripture used to encourage shunning, where the next simply means to watch your association with the person???

I have a stalker at the hall right now who wants to come over.

I keep blowing him off, but if for some reason he gets me in a conversation, I will not even mention doctrine.

I will ask him:

1) Did you know that besides the Catholic Church, based on my extensive research, Jehovah's Witnesses are the second-most involved religious organziation in child molestation cases? Do you really believe God and Christ would allow their "chosen organization" to be that corrupt?

2) Did you know that millions of dollars for the world-wide work were used as "hush money" to pay off several long-suffering victims of child abuse?

3) Did you know that even though the WT loves to blast the Catholic Church and other religions for moving pedophiles around from congregation to congregation to "get rid of the problem" , the Society has allowed that for years and years? Again, would Christ as the "head of the congregation" turn a blind eye to that, or would God's Spirit which supposedly appointed this man also then make it known that he is a molester?

"I'll hear people say goodbye to their brothers and sisters by saying "Take It Easy", and I quickly correct them - Jehovah's people do not EVER "Take It Easy!!!"

No wonder most people in the hall felt burned out and discouraged!!

We were cracking up remembering the talk - the guy came across as such a D-Bag. Of course, the guys our age went out of our way to yell "Take It Easy" to each other as often as possible after that. Our dads even got in on the joke since they hated the CO as much as we did.....(and they were elders at the time)

Thats a great album - I remember being in high school when it came out.

My friends at the hall were all metal-heads, so Def Leppard was on the lighter side of our tastes, but our dads were elders so we used to catch hell for all the music we listened to. We didnt care - LOL

Help Please - Wife Misses Friends, Wants to return to KH

the topic says it all.

i am frustrated and dumbfounded.

i understand that she misses the social activity with her "friends" but we have been "very" busy socially the last several months with new friends and she's been having a great time.

I worry because its always going to be conditional.

Soon, she wont be attending "enough" meetings for those so called friends, and she will be "bad association".

She wont be out in the ministry, or if she does, it wont be enough, and she will be "bad association".

I went through a similar period where I thought "something is better than nothing" so I should just stick it out.

I missed a lot of the people, but then I started to think about my actual TRUE friends. I have kept in touch with them throughout my fade. I can count them on one hand.I am starting to build new friendships, but it takes time, especially once your guard is on high-alert.

I think this is a part of the process that a lot of us go through. I would really ask her what she wants out of it, because it sounds like she might be postponing the inevitible. I think going back and reconnecting will make things a lot worse for her.......

Anyone watch USA vs Czech Republic game last night?

i am so tired of usa soccer.. i keep waiting for this giant step forward, but the national team has been stuck in neutral for years now.. ever since the excitement of 1994, i have been expecting a gradual improvement on the world stage.. everytime they play a quality opponent, they get exposed as a 2nd rate team.

it has been that way for years.the defense last night was horrific, and even though they scored twice against petr cech, both goals were from sloppy set-pieces.. the commentators last night even suggested before the match that the usa has a golden opportunity vs england in the first round of the world cup.....yeah right.

i remember the same chatter in 1998 against germany, and germany annihilated them (score was not indicative of the domination) you can throw the rankings out the window - the usa is still not a player on the big stage.. (now watch them come out blazing in the wc2010 - lol).
