Common JW dating practice?
by JimmyPage inthe other day i was at a drive-thru when i saw a couple of young dubs eating inside by themselves with no chaperone.
they then left in separate vehicles.
it reminded me that when i was dating my jw wife it was her idea to take separate vehicles to avoid arousing suspicions.

Does Anyone remember "Nemesis" by Shriekback?
by lepermessiah intime for an obscure 80's classic..... i heard nemesis on sirius the other day and had to run out and get the album (oil and gold) again.. i think it came out around 1985, and it has some incredibly bizzare (and cool) lyrics.. all i know is that any song which contains the word "parthenogenesis" in the chorus and manages to rhyme it is quite an achievement!!.
it also features the singer claire torry (who sang on the dark side of the moon album) singing at frequencies that could break glass .
the video is pretty wild too!.

I'm sure people are waiting for the new songs with bated breath, much in the same way I am waiting for the next William Hung album.

Its funny - I grew up a massive Paul fan (and still am) , but as I have gotten older, all of my favorite songs now seem to be written by Lennon. I think Paul's solo career has been much more consistant, maybe thats why I am the way I am......but when John was on, he was pure genius.
In My Life, Norwegian Wood, Tomorrow Never Knows, She Said She Said, Walrus, Strawberry Fields, etc............

LOL - I was thinking the same thing, Im sure it will be another "avoid education like the plague" message - God forbid you get an education and a decent job

I've listened to every album, dozens of times. If I had one shot to impress virgin ears, I would give them Revolver. There is a lot of variety and energy on that record.
I would agree - Revolver is my favorite album. To me, that is the album where they turned pop music on its ear. All of the albums are brilliant in their own way, but if I could only own one album, Revolver would be it.
I cant wait to hear to see what they did with "Tomorrow Never Knows"...that is a great headphone experience anyway......
Talesin - I heard a cool story yesterday. A writer took his 5 year old son to see Paul a few months ago. He was thrilled when he saw his son was playing air guitar to "Drive My Car" along with a 60-something couple next to them at the concert. I think that explains the power of the Beatles!

"If I really am putting Jehovah first in my life, all the necessities will be taken care of." also "The congregation will miss your assignments and you will be creating additional work for the other Elders, some of them are finding it hard too!"
Man, those are classics for sure. Nice passive-aggressive guilt trip attempt - the old tried and true.
"If I really am putting Jehovah first in my life, all the necessities will be taken care of."
That is the DUMBEST thing to say to someone going through hard times. That is basically saying that God is punishing you because you arent doing enough. I HATE that mentality...ARGGH......I am sure he tells the depressed and beaten down in the hall that they arent praying enough and they need to go out in service more!!
As far as the parts and the other elders issue, I would play the BURNOUT card - it has worked wonders for me and some friends. They left us alone and didnt nag us when we resigned.

can you really ever fade with immediate family still in?
by oompa ini am beginning to think not....elders still want to call on me rather than befriend me in any way.....and with a "good" wife and son and parents in, it seems like i still have one foot in only because of the overlap with my other "free" self........it is hard to really feel free in this situation, and is still have desire to just run the fluck away.....which would mean pretty much giving up my family in nearly every respect.
some here really miss their family and wife, others so love the freedom they seem able to move on and start fresh....as you know, i dont seem to have the balls for that, and at this point in my life the price seems to high to fully start over........it is the "one in one out limbo dance"......oompa.

I have been wondering the same thing since I am really early on in the process.
The interesting thing for me is now that I spilled my guts to my wife on how i feel, I actually feel like our relationship is getting stronger. She has made it easier for me because I was very up front with how I feel, and although she doesnt agree with my stance totally, I think she understands it. I am hoping eventually she will examine many of the things I have and come to her own conclusions. But, I am making it very clear on how I feel. I dont want sheparding calls, I dont want to be preached to, and if I feel like I can attend with her on occasion, I will. We always had a very loving relationship, and I think once I told her that I love her but not the organization, she felt a lot better. Not everyone takes that stance though.
Even with that I still see a lot of conflicts coming up - "No, I REALLY dont want to go today", "No, I will not write a check to the Worldwide Pedophilia Fund", "No, I dont want to go to the assembly", etc.......she has always been very dependant on me to "take the lead", and right now my lead is heading out the door!!
It will be interesting to see how things shake out - I certainly wish you the very best.
And you can call me FRO-derick FRAAN-ken-STEEN.

New light also means getting rid of song lyrics written in the 1870's which have different meanings in the new millenium!
Such as ---- "like bees that were molested, but I shall ever beat them off" --------
