What about this one from the same talk?

In other words, forget the angel listen to the F&D Slave......I love how he twice said hypothetically in reference to the angel, just to help all of those in the audience that had previously seen angels descend from heaven and land on the platform. You know, it happens so much.

"This is my Son, my beloved, whom I have approved. Listen to him." So we listen to Jehovah, by listening to the Fine Shepherd, Christ Jesus. And we do that , today, by listening to the Faithful and Discreet Slave , who Jesus appointed over all his belongings to give us our spiritual food at the proper time.

The WTS & The Sound of Music

i recently watched the classic 1965 film "the sound of music" for the umteenth time.

it was the winner of 5 academy awards, including best picture.

i originally saw it on the big screen when it first aired and loved every minute of it.

I HATE how DOGMATIC they are about everything - we are the authority, even though we have been wrong about every prediction and tend to change our doctrine like the wind........but you better not question anything you APOSTATE!

That and the RAMPANT HYPOCRISY!!

How do most of these people read Paul's description of love and think it describes them?

How do they shove John 13:35 down everyone's throat saying that it proves they are Jesus' true disciples while many treat people like crap?

I have heard this story from a number of reliable sources who watched this on the news. I was supposed to get a videotape of it, but my friend who I havent seen in years never sent it to me.

There was a case here in the USA where a local TV channel did a "sweeps week" expose of local brothels and busting the men who visited them.

Naturally, the promo showed one of local elders with his hand over his face saying "Oh, Jesus, God...........NO!"

Here was one of the wonderful spirit appointed shepards dipping his wick at the local whorehouse!

It was pretty well known that him and his wife were on the outs - now everyone knew why

The best was people trying to make excuses for him after it happened............LOL

I would love to see someone get that up on YouTube.

With Burning Anger - Nazi Era Catholic History

i recently read a fascinating series on the history of the third reich.. one incident discussed in the book was the large group of catholics who stood against the nazi regime.. the reason i found it so interesting is that the wt continues to make it sound like the catholic church and all of its members were practically card-carrying nazi's, and that jw's were the only religious group who stood against the regime.

i was interested to read statistics of the many catholics, protestants, and others who were tortured and sent to concentration camps for their faith and opposition.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/mit_brennender_sorge.

those oh so spritual answers...

i had my own flash of light the other day.

i realised somthing about sister perfect, you know the type who would perfectly hold her nose above everyone else, and occasionaly condesend to talk to one of us lowly ones, she was so perfect she farted chanel no 5!.

the other thing she would do was those oh so spirtaul answers, the ones with the whole paragraph and watchtower inculded in it.

I also hate that type of person.

Another problem is that the whole concept of sprituality is based on statistics and appearance.

"I got 500 hours in field service this month, but I am cheating on my spouse"

" I commented 4 times at the WT study, but I like the little girls in the congregation"

"I am a regular pioneer, but I think other people in the congregation are dirt"

"I have family and friends at Bethel, but I am stealing from the brother I work for in the congregation"

Most of the eloquent speakers and people who give "exquisite" comments at the WT study are usually the biggest self-righteous, self-centered people in the organization. The ones who spit out a comment from the heart were the ones I appreciated the most.Dont EVER let anyone's fancy words make you feel inferior. Most of those people are white-washed graves.

What exactly are JWs unique in?

the wt will make the assertion that the witnesses have the truth (i.e.

are god's org) due to a huge laundry list of items.

of course, this ignores the fact that their teaching is that they were appointed over jesus earthly belongings in 1919. but, lets roll with it...the witnesses have the truth because they do not:.

OTWO and Dissed - I like what you said. I always thought the WT Society was very sly in the way they applied the term "inspired" and "spirit directed" because they are quick to say no, we are not inspired but if you go against us you are working against God's spirit.......

hmm - isnt that pretty much the same??

Hey, My JW Wife Went to a Catholic Church Funeral

this is huge (to me).

my wife won't clink glasses.

she won't watch anything r-rated or any shows/movies with a mystical or religious theme or undertone.

Its nice to hear of people who still put love and compassion for others over fear of going against Big Brother or others in the congregation.

I respect peoples' conscience in many of these manners, but unfortunately many condemn others along the way.

Hopefully that is another step in the right direction!!

When questioned over similar decisions I have made in that situation, I simply would say "I felt it was the Christ-like thing to do" - that usually shuts people up, since they really cant argue that point.

Interesting Conversation

i had a conversation with a friend who has been inactive for over many years.

he has really been there for me since i need an outlet to talk about my situation.. i finally found out one of the reasons he went inactive - he said he had read an article in one of the wt's, and then a few weeks later, he read an article that seemed to contradict the previous article.

when he questioned this to an elder, the guy basically chastised him for questioning it and would not contact brooklyn for clarification.

I went on to ask him if he ever read the article from the late 60's that likened organ transplants to cannibalism.....he was shocked when i told him about it. The gist of the conversation was once you start going down the path of questioning Big Brother, its scary what you find at first, but then it turns out to be extremely liberating......

Stop using John 13:35 as "the identifying mark" by saying they are the only place to experience true love among people, especially when the congregation is full of people who do otherwise.

Admit that times really have changed and get out of the first century- when Jesus said go from house to house, he didnt have technology at his disposal nor did he live in times where people live in fear of strangers coming to their door. The door to door ministry is a dead horse.

Ahhh, forget it - LeavingWT hit the nail on the head...............no reform is possible without blowing the whole religion to kingdom come, which would freak out too many people and cause a mass exodus.
