the other day, i finally got to hear one of the new "kingdom songs" .
it was hillarious when first, no one knew the song and mumbled their way through it, and then second, when the speaker reminded the congregation that they have been encouraged to practice learning the new songs at home!

just another log on the "generation" fire....... i was researching the term "generation x" and its basically agreed upon that it is a term used for the group born between 1961 to 1981.. the generation before that in the usa, called the "baby boomers" was slightly shorter.. what is interesting is that gen x is also referred to in the usa as the 13th generation - counting back to the founding of the country in the 1770's.. so, again...... why is the wt telling us that a generation can span for decade after decade, crossing centuries???????.

The more I think about this, the more irritated I get.
They are taking a simple word and making it into such confusing dogma.
When i was younger, we were very proud of a family photo we had of 4 generations:
My grandmother, aunt, cousin, and her daughter.
When speaking of history:
My grandmother's generation was WWII-era.
My aunt's generation was Vietnam-era.
My cousin's generation was the Reagan-era 1980's....etc,etc.......
Since when does a generation span CENTURIES?????

Like others have said, they just bought themselves a bunch more time, especially since the "new light" couldnt be anymore vague and confusing.
How does this explain then the number of anointed being sealed around 1935?
Those people would be at least 75 years old now, and if they were baptised and chosen as "annointed", wouldnt they at least be 20 years old or so at that time? That would make them at least 95 now, most of whom are dead.

It sounds like Jesus was TOTALLY confused as to what he was talking about at this point.

in the last few years that i served as an elder, and as i was discovering what the wts really was, the term "old school" would be used and it began to bother me more and more.
it was usually used to praise a person with a mean, unwaivering, dogmatism to an obselete policy.
a couple of times i would ask the person what he meant by the term.
The "old school" boys are despised by the progressives, who learn fairly quickly that all efforts at reform are futile. Once it becomes clear that the "problems" are not specific to one congregation but are systemic, it's crisis of conscience time for a "progressive" elder.

I have been asked many times by the local elders who offended me in such a way that I feel the way I do now.
I told them that I was not personally offended by anyone. Like you said, its systemic. You cant change it - you either submit or leave it.
Once you question the system, you see how "old school" (Pharasaic) it really is.
I called the "Pay Attention to the Flock" book the "Pharasee Manual" a few weeks ago - my wife just looked at me and didnt know to laugh or cry.

Old School = Pharasee
Progressive = Compassionate and wishing for change
The WTBS LOVES the Old School.........thus producing a new breed of Pharasees.
They "strain out the gnat and gulp down the camel".......just like Jesus WARNED against.
Most of the sincere ones longing for change get either beat into submission or burned out beyond belief.
