In my not so humble opinion, women are the stronger sex. We handle crap that reduces a man to a puddle.
Oh yeah Dinah, how much can you bench press? LOL
today's sacramento news & review (my hometown free weekly) has a story about different ages of feminist, and one of the twenty-somethings is an ex-jw.. http://www.newsreview.com/sacramento/content?oid=1362042.
jenn kistler | 20s.
give back the rib.

seems like work to me....... doing the microphones, manning the magazine counter, spending countless (sorry, counted) hours every month knocking on doors.. privileges?.
Snowbird hit it right....
Its also WT speak to get men in the congregation to do stuff that absolutely nobody wants to do......
1) Its a privilege to stay after the meeting 45 minutes to count $50 worth of donations.
2) Its a privilege to deal with the nightmare of putting service groups together.
3) Its a privilege to have countless talks every week at the TMS and SM.
4) Its a privilege to deal with the constant petty BullS--- bickering that is ever present in a KH.
5) Its a privilege to HAVE to be out every weekend in circus "taking the lead"
God I miss those days.............NOT! LOL
when i was a braindead dubbie we used to say "there are no jehovah's witnesses in prison.
" of course, that was true, but once again as jws are so fond of doing, it was also a lie by omission of fact.
as soon as a criminal jehovah's witness was convicted, he was disfellowshipped.
Well, I know of several prisoners who were baptised in prison, and are still there......
They studied with an elder I know.
I only know of 2 cases where the people were sent to prison and not disfellowshipped.....
Both were consciencious objectors during Vietnam.
Hasnt there been some abuse cases where the congregation did not disfellowship due to the lack of 2 witnesses rule, but the courts convicted them?
my worst field service experience was this.. i didn't have a car at the time and so a pioneer sister was picking me up of service every couple of days.
she was my partner and i got a door where the woman was clearly not interested.
as i am stepping away the pioneer sister starts in with all the objection stoppers.
10 years old.
Outside air temperature - around 0 degrees Farenheit.
Wind Chill - probably -10 to -20 degrees Farenheit.
I get stuck working with the biggest slavedriver in the congregation. This guy would get irate if you had to stop for any reason - bathroom, eating, etc.
He has the LONGEST street in our territory, and INSISTS on doing it door-to-door.
"We are not doing RV's today, a little cold air wont hurt you guys"
I not only froze my @$$ off that morning, I got chewed out by like 3 people asking what the HELL was I doing out making them open their doors on a bitterly cold day.
What a joy!
what is the youngest person you ever heard of getting dfed?
did they come back?
because they wanted to or had to?
I had a friend DF'ed at 16 when we were in high school.
Very sad story.......should have just let her walk away, but they pushed the envelope.
I also know 2 people who were DF'ed 4 times and reinstated.
i coudn't help but notice in a recent watchtower ( february i think it was).
jesus was pointing the way to some one with two fingers ,not to somebody who had two fingers but pointing the way with two fingers.
just one finger might have give the wrong impression.. the point is jesus had what can only be described as this fabulous head of hair .i mean it was like wow because your worth it !
Another nominee for Greatest....Thread......EVER!!
With that in mind, he must have had one of those very sweet WAHL brand Beard Trimmers too!!
The pictures in the WT never show one hair out of place.
I wonder if they had those red and white barber shop poles back in those days.....
This is starting to remind me of "History of the World - Part I"
one thing this site has made me reflect on the baptism practice in jw land.. many of us were raised in the religion, thus you were given the pressure early on to shoot for baptism as a goal.. i remember feeling bad because i waited until the ripe old age of 14 to take the plunge.. looking back, i realize that when i was 14, i didnt even know what my favorite color was, let alone have enough knowledge to make a life altering decision.
yet, growing up in that climate, i would say anyone who waited past their early teens to get baptised was viewed with great suspicion and was likely to be viewed as "bad association".
kids who took the dip at 8-9 years of age were viewed as "wise beyond their years" and the like.. how old were some of you when you were baptised, and what are your feelings on the matter?.
I win ... as a Catholic, I was baptized at ~ 6 months!
Welcome my (former) Catholic brother! I was too - LOL. Mom became a Witness when I was under 2, so its all I remember. I never explored my Catholic roots

I told my parents I wanted to take the test too and to humor me they got me to do the first set which I did with ease. To their credit, the elders in my hall talked to my parents and they agreed that I was smart enough to pass the test but not old enough to understand what I was doing
Paralipomenon-
Thats brings up a great point as well - those baptism questions are a joke. Its usually like an "open book" test, so all you have to do is READ the answer. If you had a "hard core" elder who made you close the book, many of the questions are structured that even a young one under 10 who has sat at meetings his whole life and is intelligent would have no problem answering successfully.
Although, I do have a classic story......I know a guy who went over the questions several times before the elders let him get baptised.
He kept BOMBING the first question - which I believe is "Who is God?" or something like that. He would rattle off these way-out there, philisophical views of God, and would freak the elders out......LOL

The problem with it to me is that you are basically signing a contract saying "If you get older and gain more knowledge, and you find that this faith isnt for you anymore - tough. Get ready to be ostracized, cut-off, and viewed with disdain!!"
To me, there is no way at a young age that you realize the gravity of your decision.
i'm toying with the idea of going vegetarian for a month, just to see what it feels like.
my concerns are.
costconveniencenutritionflavormy question is thus, is there a vegetarian diet that will meet these criteria?
John -
One concern to watch out for.....
Men who go Vegan usually consume massive amounts of soy. Well, soy can cause your estrogen levels to skyrocket....it can cause men all sorts of problems......i have read several medical journals that have had case studies in them.....
Just be careful and enjoy -
