at the special assembly day they interviewed a elder who came into the truth in the early 50's he had just signed up for collage and was starting his life at the age of 18 or 19 then he learned the truth.

a elder came to him and asked why he wanted to go to collage when the system's end was so close.

he realized that the elder was right.

When I went to my last elders' school, they had a part about the lack of value of a higher education.

They interviewed 3 guys who had attended and graduated college and were now elders.

The whole part was about how worthless their education was, how it didn't compare to the spiritual treasures they now had, etc......

Well, which elders at that school had the best paying jobs, wore the best suits, and drove the nicest cars?

Yep - those three! 2 were executives at major companies, and the other was an engineer.

"Guilt trip" from a Sister

hi guys!.

this morning i heard a voicemail left by an old sister from my last congregation.

as you may know, i just disappeared from the kh meetings almost 2 years ago.

She started accusing us that we “no longer love her”… and that she “will give me until the end of the month to call her, to let her know if I’m still a Jehovah’s Witness......

True friends dont pull that crap. A simple "HI, I was thinking about you" without bringing up your status as a JW would have spoken volumes to me.

So does her method...

Was it encouraging or defeating when you heard counsel to do more ?

small things from our recent elder visit keep popping up in my mind .

one thing we discussed was how much pressure we felt in the congregation to keep doing more , more ,more .......i said that it caused us to never feel we were ever good enough !

if you are not meeting the national average you were treated like a slacker .

I said " But who made you the judge on whether or not someone has the circumstances or Not ??? You don't know what may be going on in someones life. Shouldn't it be up to them to freely do or give the time they see fit to do ?"

Not to sound crude, but it was like getting kicked in the nuts 3 times a week!

Barcelona looks to be the strongest side at this point.

Bayern has been a little inconsistent this year - they have looked unstoppable at times, and really shaky on defense at others. They played a month of flawless football, followed by a rough 6 weeks - now I see signs of the excellence coming back.

The second game against Man U was a microchasm of their season - mind boggling bad defense, followed by a great attack and highlight-reel goals.

Arjen Robben has been absolutely brilliant for them this year - he has put them on his back numerous times. With him in top form, and Ribery healthy, I cant see them being totally counted out. They should take care of Lyon - but the champion may very well come from the Barcelona/Inter winner.

let me explain by what i am getting at without sounding like captain obvious!

i am actually excited about this since i think this could help assist a ton of people out of this organization!!.

i believe that the governing body is stepping up efforts to emphasize their unconditional rulership - every wt study article seems to make reference to their authority.

if I were still going to the Hall, I'd be extremely troubled at how much their promoting the idea that a person's eternal salvation depends not on following Jesus (or even Jehovah), but rather on how 'loyal' they are to the Borg itself and how 'obedient' they are to the "Slave Class"

Well said, Mary. That was a huge issue for me when I started down this road.

You could be the biggest A-hole on the planet, but as long as you made your meetings, got your 10 hours in the ministry, you were saved. The biggest Christ-like "worldly person" was still going to become a pile of ashes.

They are no better than the churches they love to bash. They take Jesus out and dust him off twice a year just like many other groups.

I am going to dig up that Botchtower article you mentioned.

If something or someone is "spirit directed", wouldnt all the GB members get the same message from the spirit and all vote unanimously on a life-or-death matter?
