So close, they're saying it every meeting?
by CrimsonAshes inwas listening to the meeting on the phone tonight, and the second half, after the song, one of the announcements said about the gt.. at first i thought they said "great tribulation one day away," but then i listened to the rest, and realized it was "great tribulation is one more day near.
" either way....they're saying it at every meeting now?
and the reason it was an announcement was because they were announcing baptisms.

You are not bring British, you are being human!
I think you will be amazed at how much other people appreciate it when you take that extra step.
They are probably dealing with the same emotions you are!
Take it in small steps - I started with situations where it was extremely "easy" and it was right there for the taking.
I went from being really shy (and i still have my moments) to being more and more outgoing.
The funny thing is, the more I got away from "The Truth", the more confidence I have had! I dont know if they are connected, since I have taken other steps to combat it, but I think taking control of your life gives you more and more of that strength - best wishes to you!!

Do you remember the moment that you stopped believing that it was "The Truth"?
by freeflyingfaerie inwas there one incident or epiphany that struck you hard?
or was it a slow...gradual awakening (no pun)?.
my coming out of the jw coma (as i like to call it) began at a family rendezvous in the beautiful florida gulf coast.

I finally had had enough, and was sitting at work one day.
I was disgusted with the lack of love, the authoritarian ways of the organization, and the lack of empathy for child abuse victims.
I googled JW's and child abuse and found Barbara Anderson's site and then Silent Lambs. That day, I knew I had grown up in a myth.
The rest is history - once you blow the lid off of Pandora's Box, the dominos fall very quickly!

Do JW's cherry-pick what to find offensive? Is it hypocricy?
by Terry into take a stand for true worship, we need to have a viewpoint like that of the prophet isaiah, who told true worshipers: touch nothing unclean.isaiah 52:11.. .
jehovah's witnesses are preoccupied with religious "cleanliness" and "purity" of worship.
at least, that's what they say.. for example, jw's aren't permitted to engage in many commonly observed holidays because of connections to pagan false worship.. christmas, easter, thanksgiving are no-no's!

Jehovah's Witnesses can be refuted easily by simply using their own reasoning against them!
Okay, you say you are concerned with pure worship? With pagan influence?
WHAT ABOUT THIS?
Watchtower:
Suppose you saw a piece of candy lying in the gutter. Would you pick up that candy and eat it? Of course not! That candy is unclean. Like that candy, holidays may seem sweet, but they have been picked up from unclean places. To take a stand for true worship, we need to have a viewpoint like that of the prophet Isaiah, who told true worshipers: “Touch nothing unclean.”—Isaiah 52:11.
I love it Terry! I was talking about this at lunch time with a family member - their only response?
Well, the "light keeps on getting brighter"....................ARRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!

Another treat from the book:
In the 1st March 1964 edition of the magazine
the same point is made in an article 'Youth Get Saved From This
Crooked Generation':Let us face it. This world has nothing good to offer you. . . .[The youth of the old world] will spend hour after hour on the dance
floor going through all sorts of contortions to the beat of the
modern tom-toms .... Actually, there is no justification for a Christian
to dance in close contact with another's marriage mate.In fact, the Society's whole attitude to sex is interesting. They
regard sexual passion and desire (lust) as a characteristic of man's
fallen condition and hence they disapprove of it at all levels, even
between married couples. -

This book was published in 1969. Notice what Mr. Rogerson (a NON-JW) observed in his research.
Jehovah's Witnesses do not expect the literal destruction of the
planet earth at this final showdown which the Bible refers to as
the Battle of Armageddon. They also stress that no one on
earth will know exactly when it will happen: 'But of that day and
hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my
father only' (Matthew 24: 36). In 1966 through the books and
magazines the Society delivered a new truth: according to their
calculations, 6,000 years from the creation of Adam ended in the
year '1975' We have already seen that the Witnesses think each
creation day was 7,000 years long and that we are still living in
the 'seventh day' when God rested; also the Witnesses believe the
last 1,000 years of this seventh day must be the promised Millennium
when God will restore perfect conditions to the earth."
The implication is that the Millennium starts in 1975 and hence
the Battle of Armageddon must occur before then!
