by semelcred ini am calling all who are willing and able to partake at this years memorial.
the figure is growing and if reports are to be believed the numbers are made up mostly of experienced and long serving bros and sis!
the numbers for last year have not been as high as in 1967. with the youngest gb for decades!.

I remember this was mentioned in a publication, but can't find it now - am I mistaking? Not as a rule, but as an explanation why the numbers are not decreasing, because some are under high psychological pressure, because of the death of a close relative, or newly baptized are mislead by former convictions that everyone goes to heaven.

core doctrins
by inbetween inthe idea came up, when a poster (sorry cant find the thread) mentioned something about, that as long as the wts do not change core-doctrins, most jw would not mind.. changing things like "generation", "sealing of anointed" etc, they take as new light, and dont see any problem... it made me think, what actually are core doctrins for jw ?.
some say, teachings like no trinity, soul, hellfire, paradise earth etc.... while this is true, i think we must define, what are really core-doctrins:.
my definition:.

The correct word is conformity. Unity can only be by heart, if it's enforced, then it's conformity. It's all about the appearances, the true nature of christianity is long left behind.

Just don't know what to do.
by Weeping ini disagree on some doctrine with the organisation.
yet, i also know these are the kindest, most loving people on earth.
such people must be guided by the holy spirit.

Weeping, what you experienced while "outside" was a case of "out of the frying pan and into the fire". You got out of a mid control cult, and got involved with a much more dangerous cult. By what you told us you really are in a better place in JWs than you were outside. But that doesn't mean they are the best you can get. Don't judge everyone based on your limited experience.

By your definition it's quite hard to find one doctrine that is not core, so it's pretty easy to list those.
Let's see: I don't go to KH and don't go to FS any more but I'm still not DFd, so I guess that's not so important. I can also interpret more loosely the neverending rules regarding dressing, entertainment, etc.
Can you think of anything else from the doctrine that I'm allowed to do (or not do), and not be DFd?

They fought against providing for lifelong vlounteers right up to the High Court and LOST.
How very christian of them... fighting against providing for the old. Not merely passively not helping, but actually fighting. Incredible.

I don't think they need our help, it's not too far fetched to expect partakers reaching 12k anyhow.
Also as WTWiz said, the elders will judge if you truly are to be counted as annointed or not (so much for "our spirit witnesses with the Holy Spirit"), so that invalidates most of us. I think even the few of you who keep up the appearances so well would be in quite some pressure after partaking.

its not "new light" its a "new thought"
by highdose inlike alot of you here, i've been making jw's i know aware of yet another flip flop by their cult.. the response i got from one of them was amazing, she said "its just a new thought thats all" and also "well they ( the gb) have been teaching the same thing about the generation for some time, because they've always said that the anointed was included in the generation, whether the great crowd was meant to be included or not doesn't matter, so actual its all remained the same".
could someone please tell me the difference between "new light and "new thought"??
?.

Stephen, when you quote something I often check it in the Bible too (in my native language). Re James 1:17 the previous verse fits so excellent in here: James 1:16 "Don't be deceived, my dear brothers." 17 "Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows."
This passage confirms my thoughts, that JW's teachings changing "like shifting shadows" is a deception.

KM Meeting tonight guilt trip for late comers
by Mattieu inmrs mattieu went running out the doors with kids in tow (yes, i helped them get ready) in state of panic because tonights km part is all about showing respect for being taught by jehovah by being early to the meetings and how latecomers should be put before a judicial committee.
ok, made that last bit up.. i used to hate these parts on being late to the meetings as most would judge the late comers without fully understanding their work/family/health issues.. i dont have her km with me, but it mentioned that being late is something that should not be a regular occurrence and that we should be early to sit down and be ready to be taught by jehovah.. not sure if this article is particular to the australian km or being used worldwide, though will try and scan it through tomorrow.. mattieu...... .

My cong had a habit of filling up seats from back to front, so in case you were late (the door being in the back of the room) you were forced to parade down the alley for all to see that you were late. No, that was not a "loving provision" from the elders, in fact many times it was stressed to fill up the front seats first, but who cares about that? These were mostly old folk, who all but had their name engraved on their seat. In fact I once heard a small argument that someone occupied her seat, how can he be so inconsiderate, she always sits there.
Not that i particulary care now, but this advice you mention in the KM is not bad. Of course there can always be some unforeseen stuff delaying you, but my observation was that most of the people who were late, were regularly late.

A couple of years ago a JW asked in a group of friends, why is it that Jesus picked the Bible Students in 1919, when so many of their teachings were wrong? His answer was that they were the only group that was ready to make changes in their beliefs when old teachings are proven false. In the eyes of some the "new light" is in itself proof that they are God's chosen.
