65Anyone from Canada? Thinking of emigrating there...
by teel intitle almost says it all.
i'm sure there are some canadians here, so please voice your oppinion - am i out of my mind to move there, or is it the best decision of my life?

Total time spent in the service of WTS - how much is it worth?

i was in for 10 whole years.
there were 5 meetings per week (i just got out before bs was dropped), preparing, travel, socializing after meetings etc.

Anything new re: copyright?
by teel ini am mostly interrested about countries where the copyright was not really enforced for jws so far - i mean here in romania as long as i was a jw we didn't really got any 'advice' about copying software and such, so everyone was pirating.
however in the last few months i have met several jws (technically i am still a jw, so they talk to me) who were looking to buy software.
since i work in a related field, they kept asking my advice.

Out and feeling lost, with no friends? Have faith! (my uplifting experience :D)
by teel inmaybe not many of you remember my anguish through the last year since i joined jwn.
in the meantime i lost my wife (the official divorce is due in ~two weeks), lost all my friends (thank god no family though, except the wife), battled the wts and sort-of lost.
just like most of you when you got through this experience i was lost and confused, coult not found my place in life.. i owe much gratitude to this board for giving me the much needed information and support that i am not alone, and what i'm feeling is not something unusual.

i told them since it's about my official status with jw's i request an official invitation in writing.

Experience with housing convention delegates?
by teel ini'm not sure how much was this the custom in other countries, but here during the conventions local jws could offer their homes to those with special needs / who can't afford a hotel, etc.. many years ago as newly wedded couple we decided to offer our house.
we got assigned a middle-aged (around 45) italian guy, who was a bible-study.
fortunately he spoke some of our language, so we understood each other.

there are hundreds of thousands of users all over the world, who have a couch free waiting just for you to occupy it, while you get to know his culture, his town in a much better way than any travel agent could show you.

Debator, or any JW apologists, please give me your oppinion re: mind control
by teel ini happened to surf on the "cult checklist" page on wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/cult_checklist where i found the well-known robert lifton's list, with small explanations in parenthesis.
please explain what do you think which of these doesn't apply to jw's and why.
or alternatively, if it all fits, why do you think it's still fine?
