Huh? This sounds weird... I never heard of anything being said as "it's ok now, it's not conscience matter". I tought everything was either a law, or a conscience matter. I don't see even JWs to technically force you to take EPO if you still view it as objectionable.

funny quote from 'keep yourself in Gods love'
by bohm inim currently studying from keep yourself in gods love.
having read a couple of wt books and magazines i expect it to be full of logical fallacies, scholary dishonesty, irrelevant illustrations, mind-control and scripture taken out of context.. but the writer want to give even more so he apparently saw it fit to randomly insert really, really stupid statement.
to clarify - they dont serve any purpose, there does not seem to be a point with them, they are just so incredibly retarded you dont know if you should laugh or cry.. an example is the first two lines of the section "those who god love" on page 26. the writer want to convince us that we cant choose our friends ourselves, and he write: [my translation].

Yeah, it was something similar when I read in CoC quoting from the book "Life Everlasting in Freedom of the Sons of God" talking about the coming of 1975:
How appropriate it would be for Jehovah God to make of this coming seventh period of a thousand years a sabbath period of rest and release
The writer actually told God what would be appropriate for him to do. And God ignored that, and did something inapproriate! Oh the humanity! I guess He's disfellowshipped now for disregarding the "slave"s advice.

Games that explicitly had shooting, or killing were not really acceptable.
Add into that spiritism, and basically all you're left with is sports games (and even they could be bad! Anyone remembers Carmageddon?) Spiritism is really widely defined as anything that can't be done in real life - and almost every video game has such component. Some form of magic is almost always present. Video games are made on purpose to be different from our life, and that purpose is not to have us practicing spiritism.
Outlander, your experience is perfectly in line with JW reactions. I was counseled against playing video games in general, and the elders talk about them as filth. They quoted incessantly that "Jehovah hates those who love violence". You are perfectly right, they can't wrap their head around the idea, that someone can play for example a shooter, but in real life he wouldn't kill a fly.
The elders told me: "Do you think if you fall into water, you could really come out of it dry? In the same way, do you think that you can act out violence in games and don't have them affect you?" They also loved to quote cases where some kid with psychological problems killed someone and said he learned it from video games.
Edit: I just re-read the tripe from the YPA article. It says:
What moral lessons is this game teaching me?
Well... here's the thing. The vast majority of the games focus on good winning over bad, to not give up no matter howbad things get, just keep walking the right road, even if the whole world is against you. I don't feel that any game has the message, that killing is ok, it's just a game mechanic.

Come on guys, this is funny! How can you answer "no, I'm not as smart as I think I am?"
My answer is: I'm not smart enough to realize I'm very smart. Or in other words: I'm so dumb I think I'm smart.

Lol Scott, no way. First, I really doubt the amish play PS3 or post on internet boards. Then, once you're burnt by one cult you're probably careful next time joining an other cult.
Why, do you think a car is really necessary for today's living in all cases? I can get anywhere walking in a matter of minutes; starting up a car, and waiting at traffic lights would probably take longer. When going shopping to a mall, the taxi will take me home for about 3-4 USD. So why should I bother?
It's a different story in a metropolitan area of course, I'm not saying cars are bad, I just didn't feel the need for them.

Although this current doctrine has the potential to be dragged around technically forever, I'd wager they won't prolong the overlapped generation to three generations. I have no idea what they could come up with, but they need a much more specific end date, this one is still not pressing enough.

during this paragraph, just put up your hand, wait for the microphone...
For most of us on this forum that will be a loooong wait... They can't let anyone answer who is suspected of having independent thoughts.

Isn't June 15 around the date when the generation teaching will be studied first? Clever... and very sneaky.
Anyway I plan to drop in the WT study on that date for the first time in one and a half year. It's just too good opportunity to see cult mind control in action to miss it.

Most people who are not JW's live with out moral restrain! All who have left the "Truth" regret it. June 15th WT
by life is to short inin the june 15th wt it says on page 9 i will just write it out as it is to hard and unbelievable to preface this.

TheOldHippie: as has been said by many on this topic, the JWs will glide over those words, and come to the conclusion in the title.
Was it not so, it would mean the WT admits that most of the people actually don't regret leaving the WTS - it says "some regret", and even though my english skill is not perfect, I think "most" is the opposite of "some".
