with monotous regularity, my jw friend says the proof that the org is god's only divinely inspired org on earth is the fact that they go door to door.
how should i respond to this convuluted logic?.
An elder ex friend of mine (ex because friendship is conditional in the WTS world ) used the same argument. I told him there are many other religions who do the same, and told him that it should also matter what message they bring, just going door to door is not enough.
Don't expect to convince a JW of anything, they have too much invested to actually admit they're wrong. The best you can get is to get them thinking. If not right then, maybe you just plant a seed that later will resurface.

Also a very good counter-example to their reason that only bad things happened on birthdays: the pharaoh on his infamous birthday not only beheaded the baker, but restored the chief cupbearer to his position. This later lead to said cupbearer to talk to the pharaoh about Joseph, and his capability of interpreting dreams, Joseph's appointment, etc..., and in the end Abraham's family being saved from starvation.
Basically if the pharaoh wasn't celebrating his birthday, the izraelites may have well never have formed.
i have a problem.
my hubby and i are tying to fade out completely, but we ran into a snag.
my in-laws showed up with a stack of time slips and said that they will turn them in for us if we fill them out.
Do this: put a big 0 on the report, and mail it directly to the secretary. Then tell the in-laws you sent it by yourself. If they ask the secretary, he'd have to say yes, he got the report, yet he can't tell what was on it.

Only at the beginning, when everything was new to me. In time I started to realize I'm reading the same shit over and over again with different cover, so I skipped more and more until I skipped the whole magazine. The science articles were the last to go, they went when I realized there's little actual science in them, and mostly it's just a pimping of their doctrine disguised as informative articles.
anyone noticing any odd "more secretive-than-usual" type behavior among jws very recently?.

As wobble said, on this forum you find out any new stuff way before the majority of the JWs, there's nothing a JW knows that can truly be a secret. It really is just to make them feel special.
it seems i often encountered "householders" who could rattle off examples of the bible contradicting itself or go into a diatribe about the history of the bible.
i never knew what to say... but of course i was trained to "know" we were still "right" regardless of their argument, and i somehow still managed to feel holier than thou and left the door feeling sorry for them (rather than foster any dangerous doubts!).
did you ever feel that someone "at the door" might actually know more about the bible than you did?
Ha, I wish my FS were that interresting as yours BabaYaga. I can't remember one instance when I met someone who actually had deeper Bible knowledge and wanted to talk about it. Most of the time all I got was people complaining about politics, economics, etc. and I had to reassure them that all this will soon end. That may be because of my country's communist background though.

Fortunately I can't give you any first hand advice. However if you decide to bring the religion in, read with your lawyer the booklet entitled "Preparing for Child Custody Cases", published by the WTS to prepare JWs. It's a very special order item, most JWs don't even know about it. I'm sure someone here will be able to provide you with a digital copy.

Is it just me, or are these two sentences contradicting one another? There's nothing "similar today" in the second sentence. If I go to the place of worship either I'll start reasoning clearly and logically, or I'll start listening to counselors telling me what is clear and logical. You can't have both...
