  ok...when i left the org, i was quiet for a while....as you are, trying to get used to not being a jw robot, and trying to show the rest of the congregation and former friends and family, ..(like it matters),..that you are still nice, polite, spiritual......... not engaging in criminal acts, not smoking or taking drugs and not becoming the local slut falling out of pubs and clubs at the weekend in an alcohol induced stupor.

  then i changed my mind!

  not that i started engaging in all of the above....but that i stopped being quiet.

  Refer your Catholic/Republican neighbors to A Catholic Critique of Jehovah's Witnesses. This is an excellent rebuttal of WT teachings, written for Catholics but useful for anybody facing WT indoctrination.

  I started reading the article, but when I got to this point:

  That a person with no other equipment than a knowledge of the English
  language and a seventeenth century English translation of the Bible in his
  hands is qualified to decide all matters of eternal consequence for himself
  and the rest of mankind, is the ridiculous conclusion to which the principle
  of private judgment can finally be brought.

  I stopped here. The writer is no better than the GB, this above quote fits perfectly in any WT; he just believes in something else, and wants to enforce that.

  What I would add as advice however, is to try to keep it all legal, and not too over the top - or else it might have an adverse effect, reinforcing the JW view of them being persecuted.

  the writers of the june 15 wt are out to lunch.

  let me illustrate some terms they use:christian congregation,jehovah's congregation,jehovah's organization(gb/wbts)=wt trinity.. world=live w/o moral restraint,are unsatisfied,unhappy,threatened by crime,violence,advancing age,ill health,no hope,etc,.

  wt trinity=true christians are not immune to these problem.. world emotional security=proved elusive,many who hope to find peace and fulfillment in marriage have found their expectations gone unfulfiiled.however, in jehovah's organization its the only way of life that brings happiness.. ask the happy married(full-time ministers of jehovah) couples:margarita/raul,jane and her husband,monique and her husband,of immorally,betrayal,abuse,emotional humiliation,financial distress,etc,what happened .. wt trinity=solution to this problem sweep in under the rug by disfellowshipping.help offered go in field service.also you want mates to snitch on each other so you can solve the problem quickly ie disfellowship instead of counsel.. spiritually=churchgoers have been left bewildered and disoriented,questioning the value and guidance ot their religious leader.

  Nothing new, they do it all the time, sometimes more, sometimes less. It's called hypocrisy. They say "sure, JWs have problems too, but we have God on our side, who will help us solve the problems!" - and they skip into the sunset, with all the problems left unsolved.

  concerning "morality" in the congregation, did you ever think "how do we have the nerve to judge "worldley " people ?

  when i was a study , at first i was really impressed with the high morals in the congregation and how "happy "everyone seemed , i eventually fell for a pioneer and commited adultery , which i felt and was made to feel the most wicked woman in the world for .

  (i am married to him now ) but after i left i found out just how much had really been going on in the cong , there was one brother who had been having an affair for 5 years with a sister (he was married ) he only got reprooved and she was disfellowshipped !

  i found out lots of people who wed in the hall had already done the "deed" child abuse had not been reported etc domestic violence situations , all though i am not in a position to judge "wrong doing " myself im amazed that so many in the cong had the nerve to look down on church goers "immorality " or "worldly people considering what they knew had gone on in the kingdom hall !.

  WTW you reminded me of one of my pet peeve - the WT shows sex in very bad light, it will destroy your relation with God, it will make you sick, you are a prostitute if you ever sleep with someone before marriage and so on... then they start listing the negatives why you shouldn't have sex, which are mostly two: diseases - preventable, so they emphasise this: you will have bad conscience! Of course she will have you stupid, you made her feel that way!

  suppose you saw a piece of candy lying in the gutter.

  would you pick up that candy and eat it?

  that candy is unclean.

  the topic "no shorts, no t-shirts, no paradise", er, i mean "no shirts or t-shirts after the convention" had a post that reminded me of an experience i had that didn't really fit the subject of the thread, so i'll start my own thread and maybe we can share stories about how we have spotted jws in unique or strange settings.. this is the exchange on the other thread that sparked my memory:.

  my absolute favorite (not) was when i went to the international convention in moscow.

  i got switzerland as the side tour, and even though the convention was over and we were in another country, the females all had to be in skirts or dresses wherever we went.

  Would you rather pick up a candy from the fresh gutter, or from the month-old, dried gutter? Christmas is wrong because 2000 years ago some celebrated a pagan god around that day, but 1914 is ok, even though just over 100 years ago someone came to that date using pyramidology and numerology.

  The JWs came to an anectodal point of believing the written words more than their eyes. The literature tells them the org is the pinnacle of morality, so that is the accepted truth. Any incident personally experienced is categorized as isolated one, not representative of the whole congregation. One has to look for global forums like JWN to see that they are not isolated at all, JWs are perfectly human, morally not above others in any respect. Of course that sort of research is highly discouraged and the source of the information discredited all time.

  never have been able to, its just something i can't do.

  some people can't whistle, sing or make lump free gravy... i can't spell.

  i am dislexic and long ago gave up worrying about not being able to spell and instead concentrated on getting the idea accross instead.. i managed to get through collage and uni without being able to spell and now am a sucessfull business woman who misspells her emails to clients ( mind you they mispell their replys).

  Taking advantage of your post to say not everyone on this site has english as native language, so one more reason not to judge people on spelling.

  Oh and highdose, there are spell checkers too, I mean for business purposes, where it counts a tiny bit more than on a public forum.
