I have helped a few families here in Australia who had people in this cult, and we have managed to get three out of the Ozzie one so far. Their stories were just as horrific!!!!!
By 18 months their children daren't even look as though they want to cry .... they have a great fear of the whipping stick that is used on them from babyhood.

No one else will be admitted (no one in the "world", no inactive witnesses nor any who are disfellowshipped). This special meeting is supposed to take place world wide.Have you heard anything on this?

i had a very positive experience today which maybe not-so-coincidentally coincided with my recent comments on matthew 25.. it was only my second personal experience with babylon the grape in my entire life.
my first was when one of my daughters got married in a catholic church over three years ago.
i actually sat inside the catholic chapel and watched her priest perform the ceremony.
I guess it is the same in the USa, but here if you go to a Salvation Army or St Vincent De Paul outlet they will arrange for you to get a food parcel which will have bread, breakfast cereals, butter, jelly, some meat and veges and they will even give you a voacher for gas if you need to get to work or an job interview. You can even get Vouchers to use at local food stores where you can choose what you need, but you cannot get booze of cigarettes on it.
So don't starve Farks ..... look up your local phone book and phone one of them .... and you don't even have to give thanks <G>
You can also get vouchers to get clothing from their chothing outlet stores free of charge ....

Those here who know me can tell you that if you were here and needed help, I would put you all up and help out of my own pocket, even if it meant thinning the soup down for all of us. If I was out of beds and floor space etc, then I would find someone to put you up, feed and clothe you etc and if they couldn't afford to feed you then I would pay for it myself.
At one stage I had over 10 people here besides my own family of 5 - so I think you need to rethink you viewpoint there mate.

That is a typo ... I meant to say that if an Ozzie boat had picked them up the situation would have been the same and they would NOT have been brought to Australia.
The government asked the Tampa to take them BACK to Indonesia ... the Tampa decided that Christmas Island was closer - regardless of their ability to take them on.
I agree that once the Tampa had stopped at Chrstimas Island, that they Government should have made arrangements to land them on this occasion. Then they could have made it clear to the world that this would be the last boat load that would be permitted to do so and that all future boatloads would be turned back to indonesia etc.
But then, they would have been lambasted for doing that too I guess.

Last year Australia accomodated 4175 boat people and 1694 by plane. That is a total of 5869 illegals in one year to he housed, fed and processed.
So far this year:
4141 boat people have arrived and 1508 by air. That is 5649 who had to be accomodated, fed and processed.
They are the ones we know about!!!!!!
At least another 2000 are either on boats now or about to leave ...
We could end up with close to 10,000 by the end of the year!!!
We simply cannot cope with this type of intake of illegals.
Sure, it is uncomfortable on the Tampa ..... but it is a lot more comfortable that it was on the sinking boat.
The government is already planning a large processing facility up near us in Brisbane, something that will take up to 1000 plus, and another outside Sydney ..... but they aren't ready yet.
Get real folks ..... at last the international community can see the problem we have here and the UN has been helping to find accomodation for these people while they are processed.
We are not refusing to take them once they have been processed, only saying we cannot take them right now ..... we are overloaded!!!!!

i once heard the story of a british businessman, who upon arrival at australian customs was asked if he had ever been convicted of a felony.
to which the brit replied, "no, is it still a requirement here?
That is just a story ...... I have never heard that question being asked when standing in line behind visitors ...... nor have I heard of anyone who has been asked it .....

I agree that what they government did is not the best way to go about things ..... But considering that there is nowhere to put them for processing right now .....???? And Christmas Island is not suitable cause it is already overcrowded.
Putting it simply - there wasn't anywhere suitable to put them all. They processing centres are already so full they are having problems with the detainees ..... there are so many to process here already they can't keep up with the incoming boat people!

The Government wants them to be located somewhere else while they are processed. If they are found to be genuine refugees then they are happy to let them in .... but we simply haven't got the accomodations for them while they are processed!!!!!!
That's the whole point !!!!!!! There is no where to put them while they are processed!!!!!

Kent, they are SAFER if they stay put. For every 10 boats that set out with up to 500 people on it, at least one sinks!!!!!!
If they stay in Pakistan or Indonesia they can be processed, and if they are genuine cases then they will be accepted as migrants. This is a lot safer than taking a chance on those boats.
That was one of the main reasons the Hong Kongers took that tough stand .... to get the message back to stop the boats ..... The other reason was that their processing centres were over crowded, with three times as many people in there that they were meant to hold.
We have the same problem here with our processing centres. They are so overcrowded now we are having to build more ...... again!!!!
So, Kent, should we just let them continue to take their chances that they may sink or if they are lucky, be picked up by a ship if they are in trouble ..... considering that about 1 boat sinks every 6 weeks I guess those 500 people don't mean much to you all.
If the message gets back to them not to come because they won't be allowed in, at least they may stay alive long enough to get here legally!
