Nice work, glad you enjoyed your evening and good luck with helping your wife escape their grimy clutches.

missing the meeting was my fault, mostly.
i took her out to her favorite restaurant (a good strategy on meeting night for those with jw mates).
oh my, look at the time!
Nice work, glad you enjoyed your evening and good luck with helping your wife escape their grimy clutches.

long-time occasional lurker, first-time poster.
cliffs notes version: i'm thinking of da'ing in order to shake my family up a bit, even though i haven't been involved with jws in more than 10 years.
longer version: i was raised as a jw but never got baptized.
I don't understand why the need to DA in your case. Is it to bring closure for yourself? Or is it to stir up trouble with your folks? What does it accomplish, really? It will end the relationship you have (if any) with your folks. But I fail to see how it has any implications for other siblings. That is, provided that you can DA at all.
To DA is to play by their rules in a game they made up and they change the rules on a whim. Sounds like you have moved on with your life other than this final "dig" at them. Perhaps you should really think about what your motive is in this.

as some of you already know, i was invited to give a presentation for the minneapolis theosopical society at the unitarian-universalist church a few weeks ago.
the title of my 'talk' was "why does everyone celebrate in december?
" and i discussed the december solstice and holidays celebrated around that time.. of course, i also managed to find a way to talk about jws and their disdain for xmas and all holidays.
This was excellent. I listened to all of it and enjoyed it very much. Thanks for sharing with us.
Being religious means believing and following dogma/doctrine. This mostly revolves around meeting with others to listen to someone tell you what that belief/dogma is.
Being spiritual is a being, an essence of who you are, you being a part of a whole. You don't need another person to feel the spirit, you don't need a book, you don't need someone to explain doctrine or have rules. You simply are the spirit and live your life accordingly.
And, by the way, this is not restricted to christians, in fact, I think the most spiritual people I know are not christian.

yeee haaa!
i'm an outlaw now!
the elders warned me that if any i talk about anything said in the judicial committee or post any pictures i've taken, i'm in big trouble and i don't want these people as enimies!

first off let me say this is not about me, i'm happy and healthy.
it really about all the suffering i see people going thru.
examples in my family over the years have caused me to think very seriously this.. i could give you a couple of examples and i'm sure some of our posters can tell other horror stories they'd witnessed where perhaps it would have been much better for them and their family if they could have passed away painlessly and with much more dignity.. one of my sisters developed breast cancer and died after about a 12month struggle, we saw her waste away to just skin and bones, it was hard on me as well as her two young children and husband.
A terminally ill patient that has been diagnosed by the two doctors, that MAY get the sympathy factor from people, but when you start talking about chronic depression, thats where you lose most people on the right to die stuff. I support 100% the right of the terminally ill to die with dignity, but I don't support depressed individuals being given the right to commit suicide. This is a treatable condition. The problem here is that we stigmatize mental illness in this country (the US), and insurance doesn't cover it or doesn't cover it adequately. With therapy and sometimes drugs, people can live happy productive lives.

so the headlines say.. i saw the movie yesterday and enjoyed it tremendously.
i am very happy that robert downy jr. appears to have gotten control of his personal demons.. i don't worry about sir arthur conan doyle spinning in his grave.
if he is, it is probably with great joy that the character he created has proven to be so entertaining and inspirational to millions of people, and thus shall it ever be, amen.. downey's sherlock is as cerebral as rathbone's, but with an added element of physicality.
AnnOMaly I was JUST going to say the same thing. Jeremy Brett NAILED Sherlock Holmes. I have most of the series and always watch for marked down dvd's of the rest. Its just not the same after you see the best.

if someone not knowing about god was to come and ask you about the trinity.
how would you answer.many people have told me to look at an egg.
the outer shell, the yoke and embryo are all together.

The concept of the trinity itself came from the pagans (as most other ideas). Maiden Mother Crone in Goddess worship. I'm not a scholar so I can't give you particulars, perhaps someone else can post that information. But if you are looking to avoid all things pagan you best just give up all together.
