I shave mines. I've always kept a low haircut though. In the past year or so, its starting to naturally thin, so it gives me more of an excuse to shave it all off. I made it a point to learn how to cut my own hair a couple years ago, after dudes starting going to the barber shop again. It was nice when fellas had braids and dreds, and half-fros. That made it convenient for me to get in and out of the barber's chair. Now that guys are getting haircuts again, it's time consuming. Not to mention its economical to learn how to cut your own hair.

I couldn't imagine being 49. That has to suck. He probably gets chills all the time, bones hurt. Probably can't control his bladder. Sucks being old.

Medical People: Lipitor vs Zocor (Simvastatin)? Which do you recommend??
by AudeSapere ini know we have a good representation of medically-trained people on this board so i want to put out this question:.
when treating a person with high cholesterol, which do you prefer: lipitor or zocor (simvastatin)?
if a person begins treatment with lipitor, is it necessary to use it for the rest of that person's life?

Statins are really just like any other drug class. Amongst Beta Blockers, you've got Metoprolol, Atenolol, Bisiprolol, etc.. There's SSRI's, with Fluoxetine, Paroxetine, Citalopram, Sertraline, Lexapro. There's ARBs, with Cozaar(which just went generic), Diovan, Micardis, Avapro etc.. All the drugs in their respective classes work pretty much the same, with the exception of minor formulations and side effects. What I'm saying is, Simvastatin might work for you, or it might cause severe cramps. Pravastatin might work for you, or not. Insurance companies, and physican practices are going to promote different drugs, often based off of what rebate the drug companies are giving them. I wouldn't go too extreme when researching whatever Statin you doc recomends.

More vocal, perhaps from some who have a political agenda. But it is largely a stereotype from the left. For example, isn't it a fact that most Catholics vote with the Democrats?
That's probably true on the northern east coast, but everywhere else, the south, midwest, northwest, if they claim to be of a Christian denomination, chances are they're Republican too. I think Anne Rice is from Lousiana, so I'm thinking its more conservative down there. Even the Democrats would be your old school Thurmond/Byrd types. I live in a conservative state, and the churches and church leaders have influence on voting. They tend to swing more conservative too.

Anti-Democrat? That is just so far away from reality that it does not even deserve comment.
Comments from any Christians on board here?
Well, she's generalizing, but its understandable. When you think Republican, one of the handful of demographics you think of would be church going Christians. They tend to be one of the more vocal than other conservatives.

I saw the thread title and thought this thread was about a fungal disease, or bacterial infection.

Why'd she feel the need to come out and say she's quiting Christianity? Couldn't she just quit? She could fade without any fallout, right?

This thread just brought back some terrible memories. 90 degrees outside, and stuck inside some little dining room without air condition. If we didn't come early enough, we'd be forced to sit on the chairs donated from the KH. Those awful metal folding chairs. The conductor didn't understand half the lessons, neither did the rest of us stuck in the room. Little kids being forced to stand up and face the corner wall because they kept falling asleep during the book study.
That picture always horrified me, but at the same time fascinated me as I was into Godzilla back then. That book was creepy. I swear the SyFy channel couldn't come up with anything as creepy as the locusts with the man faces.

This thread has the makings of a really cheesy power balad from an 80's romantic comedy. I'm thinking Foreigner's I Want to Know What Love Is? Or anything by Journey.
