how's that. That pic came through huge at first LOL. Usually the copying the URL keeps it proportioned to this boards dimensions. Not this time. I got it edited. But look at that thing. Oh the naughty things I would do to her.

Can't tell you how many times being out in field service and seeing Church groups doing things for the community, and thinking to myself how little I'm doing for society by peddling magazines.

Why I Disagree With Affirmative Action
by snowbird inquietlyleaving asked this of me on another thread:.
but snowbird i have to ask you why you disagree with affirmative action.
one of the best things about a policy of affirmative action is that an establishement is saying 'you are welcome here' to minorities and that 'we regret that we excluded you in the past'.. while i acknowledge the good that affirmative action has done, ql, i've also been a witness to its downside.. let me explain: i was once sitting for an examination for a state job, and i overheard a conversation between two other ladies who were also taking the exam.. one commented on how difficult the exam was; the other somewhat flippantly replied that it was ok if they didn't do their best because the state of alabama is an affirmative action employer.

One Reason Why I Speak About Racism

if anyone cares or dares to read this, this is how it was when i was 13 years of age.. the gap in funding for black and white kids' education is still stunning to me 46 years later, but it's there in black and white.. it's a testament to our determination and fortitude that we acquired an education at all.. this, in the richest country on the planet!.
for your edification and, hopefully, understanding.. syl.

In 2010 I wouldn't want to be a teacher. Between undisciplined kids and teenagers, and the parents that defend them like BTS mentioned, and being underpaid like UnderCover mentioned, ......screw that. There was a English teacher who I was fond of. After I graduated, I ran into a cat I knew. He was a Junior when I was a Senior. I asked about this teacher I liked. He told me she had a nervous breakdown in the middle of class. She just stopped what she was doing, and sat at her desk, and started bawling. He told me the class was full of knuckleheads, some of whom I knew. Hard headed dudes all on their way to prison or the grave at a young age. Then he told me about another teacher who I respected but didn't really like per say. She was a history teacher. She broke down too. She just didn't show up one day, and never went back. As far as the racial aspect to it, both of those teachers were late middle aged white women. The classrooms were predominantly black. Those little women were incapable of earning the respect of those dudes back then. Reflecting on it, when I went to that school, the only teachers that we really respected were the males, such as the Gym teacher, and trade teachers such as Technical Drawing, or Autobody. They were mostly white too, but something about them resignated with us. My one Gym teacher had a military background, and he was tough. We all loved him for that. He'd call us faggots when we expressed disatisfaction with his decisions. Or sissies when we didn't complete our pushups and laps. I miss that guy.

One time I was in field service, and my buddy and I came to a door. The screen door was closed, but the main door was open so you could see inside the house. My partner rung the bell. On the floor was this beautiful rug. I was examining the design of it, all the while keeping alert so that when the householder came he didn't catch me peering in his house. But then I noticed something else while following the patter on the rug. This huge sword up against the wall. The kind of curved sword you'd see in Lawrence of Arabia. Then this Middle Eastern man came to the door. He had a turban on, was sweating profusely from working out. Very dark skinned with red eyes and solidly built. His eyes were intimidating to a degree. He opened the door, and said in somewhat broken english, "You are Christian? Yes? Please leave!" We got the heck outta there.
Another time out, I went through a presentation with a young dude who I had awaken. I apologized to him, and offered to come back at a better time. He goes, "that's ok dude. What are you sellin?" All the while he was whiping the sleep out of his eyes and yawning. I went through the presentation, explained a scripture, then asked if he had any questions. He put his hand on his chin, rubbed his goatee, and took a deep breath. So at this point I'm expecting a serious question. I did a quick prayer cuz I felt I was going to need assistance on what he was about to ask. Then he says in a polite manner, half sleep, "I do have a question." I said, "sure, go ahead." He replied in a stoner voice, "do you know what fukkin time it is? I was supposed to pick up my girlfriend from the airport." I looked at my watch, and told him it was about 11:30. He goes, "shit man, she's gonna be pissed." This guy reminded me of Matthew McConaughey from Dazed and Confused.
Another time we were working a neigborhood where there was this nut yelling out at us from his front yard. Yelling and snarling negative things about JWs. Everybody else just passed his house without attempting to engage. Back then I was still doing the double life thing, and if I knew I wouldn't get caught, I would have beat the life out of him. When I got finished talking with the neighbor in the house next to this nut, he yelled out, "All you Jehovahs want is our money!!! Buncha vultures! You Jehovahs!!!" I replied back, "we don't do this for money." He goes, "yes you do! You swindle people out of their money!! You drive nice cars, and have nice homes!!!" I replied back to him, "sir I drive a used Toyota Corrolla." He yells back to me, "that's cause your not doing it right!" I go, "doing what right?" "Swindling people, you're not doing it right!" I just walked away at that point shaking my head.

Roger Clemens being charged with perjury for lying to Congress. One of those GTFOH moments in life.
by miseryloveselders ini don't vote, i'll never vote.
some of that may be due to a jw upbringing, but i'm convinced a lot more its my upbringing in the city.

On a serious note, how can anybody get charged with lying to a politician. WTF!!! Seriously, how ironic is that? So they're going to go after Roger Clemens and Barry Bonds because they lied to Congress. In other words they're getting charged for lying to organized liars. It just doesn't make sense to me.

Have you ever heard JWs say, "our ministry isn't about making converts", or similar? Would you consider that line of thought accurate?

This past Tuesday night, there was a part on the Service Meeting entitled, "Highlight the Practicle Value of the Good News." The brother initiated the part by asking, "what do people mistakenly think our reason is for knocking at their door?" There were several comments given. One of which was a brother who stated, "they believe we're seeking converts." The brother delivering the part acknowledged all of the comments and validated each one as mistaken views that householders have of us knocking on their doors. At that time, my memory kicked in, and I remember an experience I had at a door several years ago. Mid summer this fellow let me go through my presentation, and even let me read a scripture. When I went to offer the magazines, he stated politely, "no thank you. I'm satisfied with my religion. I'm not looking to convert." I responded without even thinking, "I'm not here to convert you." To which he replied in a calm manner, "yes, you are." I stated, "no, all we do as JWs is preach the good news of God's Kingdom to people. Its up to people to decide what they want to do." He chuckled and said, "if you say so", and he laughed more as I was shaking his hand. I've never really given that much thought about that incident until this past Tuesday night.
I've seen newspaper and magazine articles that label the JW preaching work as "recruitment." Even "aggressive recruitment." When you think about it, what other reason could accurately describe why we go door to door? If in the ministry, we run into a Baptist, or Catholic, and they allow us to read a scripture, or discuss anything with us, we can't simply call it encouragement from one Christian to another. Why? Because all other religions are Babylon the Great. For all other people who don't study with us, and eventually get baptized as JWs, we consider those as ones who allowed the thorns to choke out their faith. JWs are taught that salvation depends in more words or less, becoming a part of God's chosed organization. So why do JW fool themselves into thinking the ministry isn't about recruitment or seeking converts? They're fooling themselves. Is my thinking on point?

WHO ARE THE FALSE PROPHETS TODAY?
by Dogpatch inwho are the false prophets today.
by barbara anderson.
in 1991, one of the watch tower societys senior writers, colin quackenbush, told me in the privacy of his office about letters which the society had received from prominent and credible elders, not apostates (thats exactly what he said), who were concerned about the increase in accusations saying that jehovahs witnesses were false prophets.

You ever wonder what makes a person like Rachel (otherwise known as Alice in Wonderland, most recently Consfearacy) tick? Who goes to the trouble of making a good bye thread only to rejoin the forum under a different surname? Its a message board for crying out loud! The same can be said for Debator, otherwise known as Renaia. She did the same thing. What makes these people tick? They take themselves so seriously, why? It just really seems off balanced to me. It says alot that the only real JWs that post on here are undercover apostates. The rest of the real JWs are lurking. But for some reason this thread attracts the mentally handicapped such as Consfearacy and Debator. Strange, yet somewhat fascinating.
